Smartwool Men's Mountaineer Hiking Socks - For challenging the elements, your feet will stay warm and dry no matter what happens.
Smartwool Men's Mountaineer Hiking Socks - Extra-heavy full-cushioning keeps your feet warm and dry when you're mountaineering, ice climbing and multi-day backpacking. Arch brace holds the sock in place and adds additional support. Flat-knit toe seam keeps you comfortable.
I used a pair of these socks for several days this past winter: snow tubing with the kids, and again for snowshoeing and dogsledding in Canada. They kept my feet warm and did a great job wicking moisture. They are very thick socks, so you may want to take that into consideration when buying these, especially if your winter boots don't have a lot of room in them. I wore these with a sock liner, so I didn't have any issues with the sock feeling loose that others have reported, and I also didn't have any problem with the sock being loose around the calf.
These are great for being outside in the snow-- even if you're standing around in line for snow tubing, your feet will stay nice and warm.

Very comfortable but not very durable
Have been wearing variants of the mountaineering heavy and extra heavy socks for many years. The socks are extremly comfortable and well cushioned and are good at wicking moisture (within reason) and maintaining warmth and comfort throughout a long hike.
My only real issue is that they tend to wear quite rapidly at the typical friction points in my boots, particularly at the sides of the balls of my feet and my first and fifth toes. I tend to go through multiple pairs per year and it can get expensive.

best socks out there
I only wear smartwool and I buy them for my nephew who is a young hunter and outdoorsman and the cold never holds us back!
The Best "Sleeping Socks" On The Market
I'm one of those folks whose feet get cold during sleep. These socks solved the problem better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried plenty.
I've never used them for mountaineering - just sleep.
Very warm but kept sliding down
So I haven't had these socks long i got them at the same time as a bunch of Wigwam and a single omniwool they are very thick but I always run at least a thin liner when wearing wool they work really well for skiing and hiking
I use these when it's -7° & when we have 1'-3' of snow! It's the warmest/thickest sock on the market! No other sock will due in those conditions.

Best socks ever!
Bought these for my husband and he absolutely loves them. Depending on the thickness of the socks he is able to wear them with his work boots or just his tennis shoes. We absolutely love this brand and this product!
Love me some socks
Won't buy it again.
You may want to consider changing your name to "not so smart wool." Your sales are falling off because you keep reducing the percentage of wool in all of your socks. Made in USA is an important selling point--thinking consumers are stupid is just plain dumb.
This is my husbands second batch of these socks. He loves them and wears them when he works in the basement because they keep his feet extra toasty in the winter. He originally bought a large (wears a size 9), but this new batch is a medium because the large could be too loose overall, especially on the calf. Loves this size better.
Huge relief for my feet
I have neuropathy in my feet and these socks give me support and massive cushioning that makes it possible for me to walk. Without these socks, I wouldn't be able to leave the house! Not your typical testimony, but it's true. They are worth every penny.
