I just installed this today, so I can't speak for longevity. However, it was fairly easy to install, just pay attention to the instructions where it calls for a 11/16 pilot hole, it should be 11/64. Otherwise, straight forward and relatively quick. Took me about an hour on an 11 ft ceiling. One issue is getting the brake to release when bringing my kayak down is having to hold one line and let the other down slightly and so on until it's about 3 ft down, then it comes down just fine. Also recommend using a strap or bungee cord to hold the hooks together as one of mine almost slipped off the end when I had it slightly off level. Seems to be very sturdy though and would buy another one for my other toys that I need to hoist up for storage.
