I purchased this rangefinder prior to start of PA deer season. I used it regularly during practice and in the field. It works well in good weather, however any slight rain or snow and it is way off on range or may not range at all. Low light is also a problem. Therefore 90% of my whitetail hunts proved that this was a poor choice to have in my bag. Also, I only hunt Archery for PA deer so most of my attempted ranges were inside 20 yards and all were inside 40 yards.
Gives me great pause to purchase another product from Leupold when there are so many competitors in this arena.
If it was impossible to make a fully functioning product at this price range, why make it?
Me and a buddy put in for preference points for past twenty years to go to one of the quality units in Colorado and we finally drew for unit 76 fall 2017. I practiced at the range with my rifle out to 500 yards shooting a 2-1/2 group for this trip. I have used a Nikon rangefinder for years but its only good out to about 450 yards, so I decided I needed something that could range out to at least 650 yards for this trip, preferring not to shoot past my comfort zone of 500 yards. While walking around in store I saw the Leupold Rx 650 for a good price. I have always trusted Leupold products until now. I found out the hard way that the RX 650 doesn't give accurate reading when facing the evening setting sun or in early morning twilight conditions. When I ranged a 360+ bull elk while facing the evening setting sun, it give me a reading of 503 yards. I couldn't understand how I missed him until I went back the next morning I ranged back from the location of the bull across to the ridge that I was sitting on, the true distance was about 365 yards and not 503! A sad lesson learned! I tried ranging with it in the early morning light and it wouldn't give me any readings at all! I have lost a lot of trust in Leupold products and I can't believe you would market a product like this. Thanks, Leupold.
got this in the mail today 4/30/2017 and took it out to the mountains to give it a test. i was shooting at a target that i had gotten a range of 127 yards before i started to shooting (testing out the rangefinder). i was hitting low at 100 yars with my savage 93r17 gv and suddenly remembered that my target was 127 yards not 100 yards.. i adjusted and hit my target dead center... does what its supposed to and now i dont have to guess my range. i know exactly how far my target is at allowing me to shoot at the correct MOA...didnt come with the lanyard so i will be calling leupold tomorrow to see what they can do
My husband bought the RX-650 for me for our anniversary. It is crystal clear and accurate. My box did not include the lanyard it was supposed to have. Customer service immediately shipped one out to me; no questions asked. Wonderful product and company.
I purchased this on sale. Clarity and ease of use are phenomenal. I was able to range a power pole at 875 yards on a clear day. Way over the listed 650. Will be using it for coyote hunting. Awesome product. Highly recommended
Very easy to handle. Great fit for my hand. Very accurate.
My wife bought this for me a couple years ago. I hunt in Alaska and use this on every hunting and scouting trip
