I hunted hard with this rifle this year and it performed in wet and snowy conditions. The gun is solid shoots like a dream. I am impressed.
I have owned 2 other brands of muzzleloader in the past, one traditions and one CVA, the bighorn is hands down the best I have shot. I fought my cva for 2 years trying to get it accurate and the shots were all over the place. In the middle of my late elk/deer season I said to hell with it after missing 2 very nice cow elk and went to my local sportsmans where I picked up this muzzleloader. First shot group hit 2 inches high at 100 yards and not more than an inch apart so I hit the woods. Got me a very nice 4x3 blacktail buck and headed out this morning to find the elk! Thanks to sportsmans and knight for helping me fill my freezers again!
I've had several Black Powder rifles in my life time. They all had there Pros and Cons, some side load, some in-line. Most of them are old or just worn out.(I shoot them a lot). Hence the reason for a new one. I purchased this through a Sporting good store, but I'm leaving my review here. First off, it shot straight and true right out of the box. With the new powders these days, I was able to shoot about 25 times before needing a cleaning. I just run a couple of dry patches down the bore, screw the breech plug in and go. This rifle is so nice to shoot. I camoed the barrel with a hydro graphics kit, and it looks sweet.
Excellent rifle. Very accurate right out of the box. Thumbhole assists with stability when aquiring target and sighting. Backs up the Knight reputation.
Purchased a Knight Bighorn during the summer of 2014 to hunt the WA early muzzleloader season. I have archery hunted mule deer since moving to WA in 2011, but could not seem to close the deal on a buck. Right out of the box the Bighorn hit bullseye at 100 yards. I shot it enough to get comfortable with the gun, but never adjusted the fork sight. First evening out I stalked in on a decent 3x4 mulie and the Bighorn put the hammer down at 80 yards. I am just as confident with this gun as any of my scoped rifles. In my opinion this gun backs up the Knight reputation. My load was two 50/50 pyrodex pellets with a 295 grain hollow point power belt.
bought this last year after 3 years of hunting with a traditional style. Loved the weight and accuracy of this rifle.
