I have tried virtually all of the camo jackets in this specialized genre, this was one of the best. Was in the store today and saw it and it looked great, tried on another 2x and then realized why I returned it: it is too short in the body. At 6', 200#, wide shoulders and longish arms(35-36") I always have trouble fitting across the shoulders and arm length. Also, don't know if me, or the jacket design, but the hood-neck area was too short and rested on my head making me feel compressed. The current fad towards "athletic" fit, makes sizing even more difficult (especially Kuiu and Sitka) for me. I can't comment regarding rain wear, didn't take it out in any dampness, did wear it in the woods one day and it seemed to breath ok, and was nicely quiet. If you want a good over jacket and this fits your frame, it should work well as long as you plan to layer up according to your thermal needs. Pit zips were soft and not bulky under the arm and did allow extra ventilation as do the higher pocket style (I could put my hands in the pockets with my hunting pack on). Fit & finish are very high quality(seamstress wife approved). So, hey Killick, let's get busy and add Talls to the line.
Wore this jacket out in the Olympic Rain Forest, and was completely soaked through within an hour or so. Was excited about the soft/quiet fabric but I think it retained too much moisture which made it soak through. It is really quiet and may do ok somewhere else, but not in the pacific northwest. It is very tear resistant in blackberry bushes too.
wrist straps fell apart after the first time washing on 4 different jackets.
Really awesome Jacket, Base layers are needed for colder weather. This Jacket kept me dry and protected me from the cold wind. My only complaint is the Zipper, it's hard to get it started. Really like the way it fits and the hood is really nice. Super quiet material as well which is great. 4.5 stars, 5 if the zipper worked a little smoother.
Good design and features on the Axiom jacket, with a fit that allows freedom of movement. Sleeve length was sufficient despite my long arms, at 6'2". Quieter than some others and I like the fact that the fabric is supple, not stiff like some.
What was almost a deal breaker for me, and still an issue, is that I cannot fathom why the manufacturer would feel the need to put a really bright red, almost fluorescent 2" logo prominently on the front of what is supposed to be the ultimate camo pattern jacket. If I return the jacket, it will be annoyance with this. Might try a laundry pen on it, but then I wouldn't feel that I could return the jacket. Would not mind a logo in a discreet compatible color. This seems to be a trend with several brands and I avoided some Under Armour camo because of the garish bright colored psychedelic logos and letters. It is on account of the logo that I am marking this down two stars. If I want bright colors, I'll buy a ski jacket and go to a ski resort.
Finally a jacket that does what it claims. Wind and rain don't get through. When I wear it along with the pants I come home nice and dry. The camo pattern is a little different, but it blends in good in the clearings and the timber.
