When you're out on the hunt there is nothing better than coming back to a well prepared base camp. Here are some ideas to make your base camp your home away from home while you're out hunting: Read More ...

    • Good Food - Be sure to bring along the Dutch oven, grill and some well prepared meals to keep you filled while you’re out with your buddies. Hot dogs and a fire might get the job done, but let’s be honest, you can do better than that.

    • Big Warm Sleeping Bag - depending on the time of year and conditions you will want something in the 0 to -20 degree range.

    • Ear Plugs - If you’re out with your buddies then you’ll probably want some quality ear plugs so you can get some rest without suffering through everyone’s snoring.

    • Canvas Tent - If you aren’t sharing a trailer or pop-up then a quality canvas tent is the next best thing. A canvas tent will last you many years and is a great value.

    • First Aid Kit - You should always have some form of first aid close at hand, you never know when you’ll need it.

    • Camera - Don’t forget to bring along an extra battery or solar charger along with a large memory card.

    • Snacks - You need to keep your energy up before you tackle your mountain, snacks are a great way to keep your metabolism going strong and keep you feeling good.

    • Head Lamp - No camper is fully prepared without a reliable head lamp.

    • Sunglasses - The effects of the sun are very damaging so be sure they offer 100% UV Protection.

    • A Good Multi-Tool - Keeping a multi-tool with you is always a good idea, having it around when you’re at your base camp is essential.

    • Generator - If you really want to have the comforts from home then having a generator at your base camp will give you the comfort you need.

    • Entertainment - Having some form of entertainment, be it books, computers or cards while you are at your base camp is a great way to pass the time.

    • You might not end up needing everything you bring to your base camp, but it’s always a good idea to be prepared for whatever is thrown at you. If you want some comfort while you’re out hunting then having a geared up base camp is the best way to take a little bit of the comforts of home with you.
