Zamberlan Men's 980 Outfitter GTX RR Hunting Boots - The brand-new Zamberlan 980 Outfitter GTX RR is Zamberlan's most advanced backcountry hunting boot to date. The 980 Outfitter GTX RR is the first field boot featuring Zamberlan’s new technical backing last designed for a more precise fit. This model also features a redesigned 3/4 RRS (Rubber Rand System), constructed using an improved rubber compound with improved elasticity. The new RRS also features a beveled edge to prevent catching and peeling. The Outfitter is ideal for carrying heavier loads and hiking through rough and steep backcountry and mountain terrain. The Zamberlan Vibram StarTrek features dual-density PU construction (one for comfort, one for support), a TPU stabilizer, and a tread with excellent downhill braking, toe climbing zone, wide yet grippy lugs for easy cleaning, and a heel strike zone. The 2.8mm Hydrobloc Tuscan nubuck leather uppers ensure the greatest protection from water and snow and the Zamberlan RRS (rubber rand system) protects the foot and ankle as well as prevents the leather from deterioration caused by cracking, cuts and scratches. The Gore-Tex membrane offers maximum water protection and breathability.

Outstanding

By

from Southern Utah

I purchased my first pair of Zamberlan boots a couple of years ago and have never had a regret.... despite costing more than many of the boot on the market. They have been with me on some rough hunts (mule deer and elk in Utah, Coues deer in AZ) the support and comfort is nothing short of superb. I even use them when doing yard work...they are that comfortable! They DO take a LOT of break in however, so give them ample time, I would say a good 20 to 30 miles (maybe more) but once they are there....simply awesome!!

So good I wish I could wear them every day.

I bought these because I am familiar with Zamberlan from mountaineering. When I saw that they were doing hunting boots as well, I wanted to try them. I have NO regrets. I have done over 200 miles in these boots, some on trail, most off trail or on game trails. I've been in snow past my knees and in 90 degree high desert. I've climed plenty of southern Oregon saw tooth drainiage straight up and down the other side.
Traction is excellent on all surfaces I've been on. The support is incredible. This last weekend I should probably have sprained or broken my ankle while bear hunting in the Applegate Wilderness, and I didn't even strain it. The limb i was standing on broke, and I came down sideways. No strain at all.
These boots are incredibly light, comfortable, and rugged. My feet stay comfortable, and they breathe really well. No BS, you will still sweat, adn your feet will be damp if you wear them for hours, but they are among the best I've ever worn (Danner, Asolo, Lowa). The sizing runs slightly small, especially if you wear thick socks, or liners. The factory footbed is good enough that I haven't replaced it yet.
There are minor abrasions and wear, but they are holding up very well to heavy use. Took about 40 miles to really break in.
Would definitely recommend.
