I received the Yeti 160 as a gift from my wife after the birth of our son. The first time I used the cooler was for a 6 day camping trip in the Sierra Nevada and the cooler far exceeded my expectations. On the trip to our destination the cooler was in direct sunlight on a 105 degree day in an uncovered trailer for over 4 hours. The remainder of the trip we were at a campground at around 4000 ft. where the day time highs were in the 90's and the overnight lows were in the 60's. To make a long story short after 12 days I still had 6 or 7 half melted 10lbs blocks of ice left. How I packed my cooler was as follows. A week before my trip I purchased 80 lbs of loose ice and 8-10lb blocks and stored them in my chest freezer @ 20 below zero. Also at the same time I pre-chilled beer, sodas, water and froze any meat that was going as well. I left my Yeti in the house for a few days in the air conditioning to ensure it was at room temperature and not overheated from the 100+ degree temperatures outside. Then two days before I had to pack the coolers I placed 40 lbs of ice in the cooler to pre-chill it. I then disposed of that ice when I packed the cooler. I packed the cooler by placing 4-4lb Yeti Ice and 2-1lb Yeti ice at the bottom and I put 10 lbs of dry ice in the spaces. Then I put 6 or 7 (I can't remember) 10lb blocks of ice on top of the Yeti Ice. Then added all of the pre-chilled food and frozen meat. After that I filled in all the gaps with around 40 lbs of loose ice. The ice took up alot of space but the cooler is so big it didn't matter. We had food and drinks for 6 people for 6 days. (Yeti 75 was full of beer also) As the days went by the non Yeti coolers ran out of ice and we starting moving items from those coolers into my 160. I had the cooler in the shade the whole time under my pop up and was opened and used a lot each day. After we returned from our trip the cooler was left in the 120 + degree garage for another 6 days full of drinks and ice. When I emptied the cooler on day 12 there was still plenty of ice, cold water and frosty drinks.

Used the cooler for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. Other coolers were on the boat and fared as well or better on maintaining ice. I left water in the cooler so I'm wondering if I should have drained some each time I added more ice.

Comments about Yeti Coolers Yeti Tundra 65 Coolers - Blue:

I have been very happy with my roadie. If you want something lighter then definitely go with the hopper. The roadie makes a great road trip companion or fishing buddy.

Comments about Yeti Coolers Yeti Tundra 65 Coolers - Blue:

I bought my yeti 2 weeks ago to go on vacation down the outer banks north Carolina. It has been a great purpose we used to down on the beach during the day and we brought it on our full day charter out fishing for Mahi and tuna. The cooler has held ice really well in all conditions. Love my yeti I'll never buy another cooler

Perfect for my needs

Comments about Yeti Coolers Yeti Tundra 65 Coolers - Blue:

I was looking for a cooler that could keep my food cold in a hot car sitting for over 18 hours in summer while baking in the sun. I found it with my Tundra 50. It was actually cold enough to freeze some of the contents even under those conditions. It is a manageable size and weight to be carried by one person even when completely full.

New Favorite Thing on the boat!

By

Comments about Yeti Coolers Yeti Tundra 65 Coolers - Blue:

I bought the Yeti Tundra 35 a few weeks ago as a present for my boyfriend and he loves it so much! The first time we used it was at Lake Havasu, AZ for Memorial Day weekend and it handled the 100+ degree weather perfectly. The ice stayed cold and 80% frozen the whole day on the lake. It was also a great extra seat and never slid around. We can't wait to get another one!

Comments about Yeti Coolers Yeti Tundra 65 Coolers - Blue:

Bought the roadie on Friday pre chilled and headed to the mountains with 15 pounds of ice and 2 6 packs of bottles. Monday morning and I have both our limits of trout no bottles and half the ice I started with. It is a little heavy but when you consider it's capabilities I'm okay with the weight
