When I bought the 6.5X20 Vortex Viper scope I had it bore sighted and the scope mounted at the store. Taking it out to the sheriff's range with the lead sniper for the mcso swat team, we zeroed it in at 100, 200, and 500 yds. It took a bit of time to get it zeroed at 100 yds at first, the rifle is a Remington 700 SPS Tactical with a 20 inch bull barrel and the first 3 times we fired a 3 hot group it was fairly tight but we had to play with the elevation and windage before we hit pay dirt.. At 100 yds using paper targets we were able to put 3 hot groups in a 1/4-1/2 group, with some touching each other in the 10 ring. At 200, the gun and the scope worked great with 1/4-1/2 shots being in the 10 ring. We had put a total of 58 shots through the rifle and ended up by firing at the 500 yard metal target which is located on the side of the mountain, just over the Berm of the 300 yd. range. The first shot was taken firing a bit to the left to compensate for the wind that was kicking up and I missed by a hair. I held the next two shots to the far right of the target and produced two bull eyes.. The 200 yard range we fired both at a paper target and a metal target which resulted in a consistent hit on both targets. The scope is accurate as long as your eyes are good and the sight picture is just as good as anyone could ask. At 500 yards we set the zoon to 12-14 and the picture was excellent. With a new rifle without any rounds through it until yesterday it took several shots to foul the barrel to make it become consistent shot to shot and the scope did not disappoint. I am hoping that this scope will keep me happy for quite some time. By the way, The gun was also bought at Sportsman Warehouse, as well and the only thing I want to say, while it has a bit of a jolt firing the rounds, you do get use to it and it really is a tack driver. The only change I would make is to have installed a magazine instead of the internal magazine.

I guess I am one of the unlucky ones as I got a defective scope. I bought it brand new for a long range rifle project. First time on the range, I noticed that the entire turret turns rather then just the adjustment knob. Even the brass threads turn, no way this unit could be air tight. I wasted the money to have this unit professionally mounted and leveled for the long range work I had wanted to do. Customer service was nice, said they would try to repair the scope and send it back so I could waste more money and time on a scope I could never trust in the field. They said repair is always the first option, which means I have to keep mounting the unit, waste more time and ammo at the range, hope it does not fog since the scope never had initial integrity, etc. I should have just spend the $200 more and bought the Leupold.

I found this scope on sale at a sportsman warehouse in Roseville, Ca and bought for a new Rem 700 in 243 cal. Mounted it up on the rifle and was amazed at how clear this thing is and how good the clarity is at the upper powers. I took a nice pig and Black Tail Deer last season using this scope and am very pleased with the performance so far. It was truely a "Value" at the price considering how clear the optics are and how well it's made and with a life time warranty. What's not to like? I like this scope so well that I am going to purchase another very soon and swap it out for an old VX 3 leupold I have on a 300 win mag. I would highly recommend this scope to anyone searching for high end optics at a reasonable and affordable price.

Awesome scope! Mounted this on my Ruger SR762 and was hitting 3/4 inch groupings at 100 yards. Scope is crystal clear, the BDC reticle is the way to go! I can't say enough about this scope. This is my first Vortex scope and definitely not my last!

The only problem that I forsee is the eye relief at very high power is very crucial.

Purchased 2 of the Viper scopes for some Long Range Precision Hunter rifles. Size of the scope is perfect, not to big or too small - just right to compliment the rifle. The clarity of the lens is better than any Leupold or Nikon scope I have. I can see the ragged edges of the .204 bullet holes at 100 yards. Tracking is true and return to zero always positive. You get a tremendous amount of scope for your money with the Viper scope.

Incredible scope for the money. I was hoping to hold out for the new Vortex Viper series but couldn't wait any longer since a hunt came up. Scope sighted in very quickly, zeroed in a few rounds and was dead on for the hunt. Quality of glass and clarity of image is amazing also.

6.5-20x50 Viper BDC reticle on my remington 700 30-06..no muzzle brake.....had it for a few months now...handles what recoil I have flawlessly...shooting anywhere from 535 yard to 862 yards last outing, stayed dialed in and the clarity is top notch at a fraction of the cost of some scopes...Building a 7mm REM MAG right now and will be buying another for it.Mind you...it MAY not compare completely to other brands...or better VORTEX models...but with my budget and this models ability...why look elsewhere?
