I have used this optic overseas twice now and It has been a great tool. I am not a sniper or a designated marksman. I do not get the $2000-$3000 dollar optics issued to me. EOTECHs and Aimpoints are great red dots, but I needed a 1-4 variable optic. The Viper PST fulfilled that requirement for me.
PROS:
-Very forgiving eye box. Easy acquisition of TGTS
- rugged and robust turrets with very tactile adjustment clicks
- Very well constructed and tough. It can handle getting knocked arround.
CONS:
- The Viper could use locking turrets. I know a model comes available with capped turrets. But locking turrets would elevate the status of this optic.
- it could use some glow tape on the turrets on the 0 indicator and each side of the window just as a quick indicator the turrets are where they need to be befor you take your shot.

Over all a great mid level optic. I am still using mine. I gave taken it on three deployments and getting ready to take it on a 4th. I hope to eventually upgrade to a RAZOR 1-6.

I purchased it from euroOptic and received excellent service. I put this on my Savage 110 30-06 with Vortex med rings on an Extreme 20 moa base. I went hunting in NC and was unable to use the scope on low magnifications during dawn and dusk. I either had to wait 20 minutes to shoot or quit hunting 20 minutes early. It was blurry and I could not focus no matter how hard I tried. The funny thing is when I increased the magnification to around 12x I could see fine again but the fov of view was of course smaller. I am sending it back and will followup as soon as I get it back. Vortex CS acted like they did not know but I located a review on Optic-Planet that said the same thing without mentioning the amount of light. I was very satisfied with the scope shooting in good light at the range but I always stayed between 12x and 24x magnification and shot between 0900hrs and 1700hrs.. I hope Vortex can fix this problem because I like everything else about the scope but if Vortex cannot fix the low magnification problem the scope is not worth putting on a hunting rifle.

Mounted on a rare 6.5 this thing is clearer than the naked eye! Very accurate adjustment once dialed in then adjust for different ranges and always be able go back to zero and it looks sick with sun shade on

Not your grandfathers scope.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I purchased this scope for my 6.5 Grendel, AR platform, long range comp gun.
I mounted the scope in a Vortex Cantileve 30mm ring mount, which sits perfectly on the rifle.
The scope is wellbuilt, it was easy to install and sight in. 5 shots had the gun shooting sub MOA at 200 yards (3 @100/2@200)
Being my 1st FFP scope, it took some getting used to, but once I grew comfortable with it, I can't imagine distance shooting any other way.
The scope help zero through 6 hours (and 120rounds) of shooting comp. several other shooters admired the scopes clear glass, solid build and (especially) the affordability.
for the money (and several hundred more) you will not find a better scope. imho.
Vortex makes a quality product at affordable prices and backs it with great service(so I hear, as I've had no problems with this scope)

Great scope!

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I have used this scope on a precision AR, and a .308 bolt gun. I really like the reticle and the turret adjustments. My eyes have a hard time with really thin reticles, and the reticles on both of my Viper PST scopes are a perfect balance of easy to see, but not too thick. I do wish this scope had side focus, and I do wish the illumination knob adjustment gave a little better feedback on when it is truly turned off vs. just on a low setting. I have burned up a couple of batteries because I thought it was turned off when it wasn't.

Best Glass for the Price

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I have owned this scope for a few years now. I first mounted it on my Weatherby 300 WSM, most recently I have mounted it on my new Falkor Defense Petra chambered in 300 WIN MAG. This scope performs flawlessly at least out to 1000 yards and has no problem holding zero on my Petra. My dope for my turrets is easy to use as is learning how to use the turrets. Remarkable scope!!

Vortex will be the only scope I will ever use again.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I recently purchased this scope to be used on a rock river ar15. I did reviews of a ton of scopes and settled on this one. What a great choice. I have about 1200 rounds through the gun and scope. And I haven't had to make any adjustments. The scopes are crystal clear and very soild. I won't even waste my time with any other optics company. Vortex has one of the best warranties out there. Thanks again for one hell of a scope.

Excellent product

By

from Hillsboro, OR

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I have used this product on my 30-06 and now my .308. I absolutely love this scope! Its clarity is crisp and clear through all the power ranges. The light transmission is impeccable allowing me to see clearly up until its legally time to stop shooting. The turret clicks are audible, just stiff enough to not move during transport, but not too stiff to make quick adjustments, and being able to set a "zero stop" function really adds to the reliablity/repeatability of this product. The scope tracks true and is as accurate as they come. I really like the cross hairs: seriously, i like the hash marks instead of dots (more accurate/easier to see targets) and it looks sweet. The illumination option is cool for low light, though I have found that I dont need it very mucj due to the fantastic light transmission the glass gives. The eye relief is great! This scope looks sweet and makes any rifle an instant looker! Would buy again!

Couldn't be happier

By

from Keene north dakota

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I was always the guy that bought lower end scopes thinking they were just fine. I have recently gotten into long range shooting and decided to spend a little more on a scope. I purchased the scope and put it on my ruger american preditor in 6.5 creedmoor and couldn't be happier. Holds zero every time and has helped me become a better shooter.
