I have used this optic overseas twice now and It has been a great tool. I am not a sniper or a designated marksman. I do not get the $2000-$3000 dollar optics issued to me. EOTECHs and Aimpoints are great red dots, but I needed a 1-4 variable optic. The Viper PST fulfilled that requirement for me.
PROS:
-Very forgiving eye box. Easy acquisition of TGTS
- rugged and robust turrets with very tactile adjustment clicks
- Very well constructed and tough. It can handle getting knocked arround.
CONS:
- The Viper could use locking turrets. I know a model comes available with capped turrets. But locking turrets would elevate the status of this optic.
- it could use some glow tape on the turrets on the 0 indicator and each side of the window just as a quick indicator the turrets are where they need to be befor you take your shot.

Over all a great mid level optic. I am still using mine. I gave taken it on three deployments and getting ready to take it on a 4th. I hope to eventually upgrade to a RAZOR 1-6.

I purchased it from euroOptic and received excellent service. I put this on my Savage 110 30-06 with Vortex med rings on an Extreme 20 moa base. I went hunting in NC and was unable to use the scope on low magnifications during dawn and dusk. I either had to wait 20 minutes to shoot or quit hunting 20 minutes early. It was blurry and I could not focus no matter how hard I tried. The funny thing is when I increased the magnification to around 12x I could see fine again but the fov of view was of course smaller. I am sending it back and will followup as soon as I get it back. Vortex CS acted like they did not know but I located a review on Optic-Planet that said the same thing without mentioning the amount of light. I was very satisfied with the scope shooting in good light at the range but I always stayed between 12x and 24x magnification and shot between 0900hrs and 1700hrs.. I hope Vortex can fix this problem because I like everything else about the scope but if Vortex cannot fix the low magnification problem the scope is not worth putting on a hunting rifle.

The Viper scope is an incredible glass at an affordable price! The clarity is amazing even at high power, the turrets work great, the illuminated reticle is a plus, and the scope looks great! I have it mounted on a .308 and it holds zero and has a great eye relief. If your looking for an affordable scope and the best warranty on the market, Vortex is your answer!

This thing is beautiful! Glass is clear, solid audible/tangible clicks/easy to set up. Has it all. Plus it won't break the bank to give you top-shelf performance.

Best scope for the value

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I've had this scope for 6 months mounted to a Ruger American predator rifle. I've shot watermelons at 1200 yards with no problem. The reticle and glass are clear as top of the line models. The power adjustment is a little hard to turn compared to other models I have. The quality far surpassed my expectations. Best scope and brand I own.

Amazing Value; great optic

By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I bought this optic from a local dealer that mentioned the quality and features as compared to Nightforce and Leupold. I bought the Viper PST on his recommendation.

I love the MOA reticle, that allows me to either hold over by using my drop charts, or dial in the come ups I need in MOA. Adjustments are precise and repeatable. The reticle shines for wind doping, as I do not dial in windage, but work with a spotter to hold off in MOA increments.

The reticle illumination system works very well, allowing me to turn illumination off at a favorite setting and immediately turn it back on if needed. Shims for zero stop work well, and the optical quality is every bit as good as a Nightforce, if not better.

At half the cost of a Nightforce, I installed one on two different rifles and am looking to buy a third. Thrilled with this scope; you make a great product that has all of the features I was looking for.

Adding to my collection....

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I have been so impressed with all my Vortex optics. Ranger 1000, Viper HD 12x50 bino's, Viper HS LR 4-16x50 scope. I had to find another new gun so I could pick up a new scope. I decided to step it up a notch and go with the Viper PST 6-24x50. I can't wait to get the scope mounted on my Remington 700 .300 R.U.M. I can't wait for the season opener. Thanks again Vortex for another amazing product. I know that I can't go wrong with this choice. I have used your warrante on my HS LR and it was amazing. I had the chance to bring my scope in person and meet the people at Vortex in Wisconsin. Great customer service and I had my scope back in less than two days so I could take it back to Idaho with me.

Very impressed

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

This scope has been on my personally owned SWAT sniper rifles (two different rifles, one bolt gun, one AR 10) for the last 5 years. It has been on deployments in every kind of weather from -10 to 100 degrees. It survived a jet boat wreck during a deployment. It has ridden thousands of miles in the trunk of both a patrol car and my detective car. It also goes both elk and coyote hunting every year. It has been dropped, soaked, frozen, dragged through the mud and dirt and so hot I could barely touch it. I have never had one problem. The return to zero has always been accurate. I can't think of what more I could ask of any scope. I would buy another one but I don't need to, this one has survived very well and is going strong. I hear Vortex customer service is good, but I don't have at personnel experience, I've never needed it.

Fantastic scope

By

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I mounted this scope on a custom built AR10 in 6.5mm CM. I have been shooting 200-600yards with this rifle and scope while I am learning precision / distance shooting

This scope has very positive clicks when adjusting elevation and windage, has zero stop capability and tracks incredibly accurately. I had my rifle zero'd in 3 shots with this scope. It has plenty of elevation adjustment for distance shooting and hold overs are simple with the EBR-2C reticle. I wanted this scope so much that I waited 6-7 weeks for it while backordered and I am not disappointed. The glass is exceptionally clear with little or no distortion at max power
