I have used this optic overseas twice now and It has been a great tool. I am not a sniper or a designated marksman. I do not get the $2000-$3000 dollar optics issued to me. EOTECHs and Aimpoints are great red dots, but I needed a 1-4 variable optic. The Viper PST fulfilled that requirement for me.
PROS:
-Very forgiving eye box. Easy acquisition of TGTS
- rugged and robust turrets with very tactile adjustment clicks
- Very well constructed and tough. It can handle getting knocked arround.
CONS:
- The Viper could use locking turrets. I know a model comes available with capped turrets. But locking turrets would elevate the status of this optic.
- it could use some glow tape on the turrets on the 0 indicator and each side of the window just as a quick indicator the turrets are where they need to be befor you take your shot.

Over all a great mid level optic. I am still using mine. I gave taken it on three deployments and getting ready to take it on a 4th. I hope to eventually upgrade to a RAZOR 1-6.

I purchased it from euroOptic and received excellent service. I put this on my Savage 110 30-06 with Vortex med rings on an Extreme 20 moa base. I went hunting in NC and was unable to use the scope on low magnifications during dawn and dusk. I either had to wait 20 minutes to shoot or quit hunting 20 minutes early. It was blurry and I could not focus no matter how hard I tried. The funny thing is when I increased the magnification to around 12x I could see fine again but the fov of view was of course smaller. I am sending it back and will followup as soon as I get it back. Vortex CS acted like they did not know but I located a review on Optic-Planet that said the same thing without mentioning the amount of light. I was very satisfied with the scope shooting in good light at the range but I always stayed between 12x and 24x magnification and shot between 0900hrs and 1700hrs.. I hope Vortex can fix this problem because I like everything else about the scope but if Vortex cannot fix the low magnification problem the scope is not worth putting on a hunting rifle.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

So I'm new to long range shooting and I wanted a scope that would deliver so I looked around and decided on vortex pst ffp. Got the scope and was amazed how clear it was but when I went to mount it I got ahead of myself misread the torqe specs and crushed the tube. But with vortex vip warranty it was covered I was shocked I thought for sure I was hit on a 1000 dollar scope but after talking to Tim Austin in customer service i had my new scope on my savage in a week and Tim was great he told me if I had any questions about long range shooting to give him a call and he would be more than happy to help wow what customer service does thanks a lot Tim

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I bought a 4-16x50 ffp pst ebr-1 this scope is a great longe range scope mounted on my 300 win. I've put over 1000 round through this gun with scope on an it still holds true. It works great at far distances but I haven't been able to use this scope yet at distances over 1300 yards. I've carried it for 3 hunting seasons an use it in competition an works amazing in both applications.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I bought this about 5 months ago and just got all my rifle stuff done. Using it on a Tika T3 Tac 308 with a Gemtech suppressor and could not believe how well this scope worked. Starting with the great tutorial given on there web site on install to use. Shot 6 rounds to zero at 100 yards after bore sighting. Then I used the MRAD FFP BDC to get my hold over at 300 yards and put all rounds within 6 inches. That was good for me, I am not a professional shooter by no means. This is in 1 day of shooting and some time doing research on shooting. Also just bought 1-4 cant wait to use on AR. Will give review once I shoot. Thanks for a great product.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

Has a real crisp view & the lighted reticle is a bonus for those dawn/dusk moments. Like the range ability the FFP scope offers at any magnification with the EBR-1 reticle, & the MRAD adjustment turrets work great!

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

Love this scope!! I've had it on several rifles since I bought it a few years ago and it's been flawless on each one. It currently sits on top of a 6.5 Grendel built AR and performs great. The adjustments / features available on this FFP PST line of scopes is why I recommend them to my friends. There is no other optic in this price range that has the features and dependability of the Vortex brand... NONE.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I used the 6-24 FFP Vipet PST at the Holland shooting school. During the school course you are constantly up and down the dial and and wind dope during the shooting stages. This scope was dead on elevation adjustments and windage, returning to zero every time every day during the school. It even impressed some people who only believe in Schmit Bender and other high end glass.

Great optic for running and gunning

        By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I bought the PST 1-4x24 MRAD for a Noveske 14.5 Lo-Pro rifle, and it works great for what I want. I was using an Aimpoint but wanted some magnification to take advantage of the accuracy potential of the Noveske barrel. The two main features that sold me on the PST 1-4x were the clarity of the glass for an optic in its price range, and the other thing was the large "eye box" for lack of a better term. The large eye box is very forgiving of cheekweld/head position which allows running and gunning in 3-gun competitions and shooting multiple targets/scanning on 1x magnification, basically how one would use a red dot.

The MRAD reticle works great for ranging on 4x while almost disappearing on 1x, truly a do-it-all optic. My only complaint is that Vortex doesn't offer the PST 1-4x with a BDC reticle, as I believe the low-powered variable optics lend themselves best to engaging multiple targets at multiple distances from close quarters to 300 yards and a ballistic drop reticle would be more appropriate for this style of optic and its associated style of shooting.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

I received this scope on a rifle I bought and was a little skeptical at first due to other peoples thoughts but I must say, I am pleased. Glass is clear and bright. The EBR-2c reticle is fantastic. Scope tracks well and so far I haven't had any issues with it.

        Verified Buyer

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Viper PST Rifle Scopes:

Tastefully anodized, this optic provides breathtaking clarity out to and beyond your weapon system's range. The elegance in the turret functionality is beyond it's price point. Tactile adjustments down to .25 MOA, a fiber optic reference, and zero stop functionality bring this optic to the next level. Graduated illumination provides further clarity to an excellently etched glass reticle, with options of first focal plane or second focal plane.

This product comes professionally packaged with bells and whistles to boot. The VIP warranty is above and beyond what you could ask for in product assurance.

You won't be able to purchase just one Vortex product. Once you purchase a Vortex item, you become a member of an ever growing family of lifetime customers.
