Just got the spitfire zeroed in and I have got to say it is amazing. The glass is very clear, the clicks are positive and accurate, and the illumination is very bright (absolutely crisp and perfect in bright sunlight). I had an eotech 512 on my m&p 15 sport but I wanted some more precision at medium range and this little optic delivered. It may not have enough power to see .224" holes at 100 yards but for a simple fixed power optic with bdc that won't break the bank look no further than the 3x spitfire. The only con is that there is no way to mount the optic in front of BUIS without an uncomfortable LOP. I hope Vortex comes out with a reverse cantilever mount that attaches forward of BUIS while positioning the optic at a comfortable eye relief.

The scope locks good, and overall the outside is well built.

The glass is clear and the reticle and illumination are excellent.

Unfortunately the turrets are garbage. They don't track true at all, they move between 0 to 1 moa per click. adjusting it is more of a guessing game then measuring required movement vs moa adjustments.
After moving 78 clicks to move 11 inches at 50 yards the scope had also tracked 6 inches left.. you have to bang a few rounds out to "set" your adjustments and figure out if they are going to stay, sometimes they jump a couple moa after an adjustment. This screams "adjustment screws directly on the internal optics tube" that you normally see on $50 chinese optics.

Great scope, badly designed mount

By

from Utah

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

Having the mount's bolts protruding from the right (ejection) side was an odd choice. You cannot rotate the mount because of the way the scope attaches. Rather than pay for AMD's branded Spitfire QR mount, I really wish it were an option via Vortex. For now I will be butchering my stock mount in order to have the bolts on the left.

Other than that it so far a great option for folks who cannot use a traditional dot and cannot afford an ACOG.

Great product!

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

I recently bought a CORE rifle system and needed a sight to put on it. I knew I wanted to go with some kind of magnified reddot, it came down to the vortex spitfire 3x and Burris 536 5x. After reading all the reviews I could find, I went to store to buy the Burris. When I got there it just did not feel right on my AR so I looked at the Spitfire again and that was it. In short, the Burris seems like a good scope but I went with the Spitfire because it fits well on my platform and seems to fit my purposes better. Two words of advice: 1. don't buy cheap optics 2. Try it on your rifle before you buy

Perfect for my needs

By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

This was the first vortex optic I have purchased. I was torn between it and a traditional scope for my AR. I am very happy that I bought the Spitfire 3x. I had no intention of shooting long distances with this gun, as I plan on using for home defense and maybe a coyote or hog occasionally. It was extremely easy to mount and zero at 100yds, and I've shot it out to 200 with no problem using the hashed reticle. I really liked that the reticle is etched, so that it does not need to be turned on to be able to use it. It's also nice to have the option of using green or red with multiple brightness settings. After shooting with this, and my dad's Aimpoint, I can honestly say that it performs much better than his. I'd definitely recommend buying it!

Another quality product from Vortex

By

from Winona

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

I had originally purchased this sight to put on a shotgun, but after running into a little stag with the mounting I decided to mount it on an AR15. I wanted a sight with high end quality, without the high end price tag and the Vortex spitfire 3X came through with flying colors. I'm a big fan of the EBR (enhanced battle reticle), and the fact the it can be illuminated in green. Also, a big selling point was that the reticle is actually etched on the glass, so if the battery happens to die the firearm will still be useable. The only downfall for me, was that I was not able to mount it on to the cantilever rail system of my shotgun, but has proved to be another great addition to my Vortex collection!

Makes my AR awesome.

By

from Southaven, MS

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

My eyeballs are getting old and week, it makes zeroing a rifle out to 100 yards a bit of a challenge. The bright red/green graphic, 3x magnification, and clear glass make it possible. I love this thing. My AR is a great all purpose rifle now, thanks Vortex. Can't beat the good price and great product.

Just what I needed!

By

from Richmond Va

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

Was looking into different sights/ scopes for my first build and didn't think there was an option that was "small" (not a full rifle style scope) that had fixed zoom. Then I stumbled on this and fell in love with it right away. Watched torture test on YouTube and Vortex warrentee/ customer service is known to be the best... Bottom line this is perfect for my build, just enough zoom to be accurate when needed but not to much where you can't get on target and quick shoot

great optic

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

Great for coyote hunting. Wanted something with a visible reticle (so if battery failed I could still is it) and bdc. With the green/red illumination it helps in low light as well. Been through rain, dust, hot, and cold with no issues.

I love this optic

By

from Kendall,NY

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Scope:

I use this optic for close to medium range applications and i love it, its crystal clear etched glass is perfect. Its durable i have dropped it, smashed it into doorways, trees, range tables all sorts of things and it just holds zero and asks for more.
