As a professional camera man in the hunting industry I have used many tri -pods over the years.  When I was introduced to the Ridgeview by Vortex, I was not only impressed with the height I could achieve but also very happy with the light weight, an the ease of use.  The tri pod is very low to the ground for certain scenes, but I can make it as tall as you could ever want by extending all the legs.  The ball head is nice and fluid and easy to use.  I now have 3 of these and they go with every camera we run.  Thanks Vortex for making a truly affordable, lightweight and versatile tri pod!

This tripod may be the perfect tripod for you or a horrible choice. I was inexperienced with tripods when I made my purchase and it ended up being a horrible purchase for me. That has nothing to do with the tripod and everything to do with my needs and use of a tripod. I am putting a Vortex Razor HD x65 spotting scope on this tripod and I find that's not a good fit. The ball joint is either locked in so tight it's worthless as a ball joint or it cannot support the weight of the optic. For a lighter optic or camera, this is probably a fantastic choice. The quality is very good, the fit and finish is excellent, I definitely recommend it, but only if it fits your needs.

Not for backpacking

By

from Morgan, Utah

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

Took the Ridgeview second time hunting and the leg broke off of the main piece. Probably from riding on the four wheeler. I did however like the ball head and how easy it is to maneuver. It also held up the spotting scope really well. Nice that the leg was covered under the Vortex Warranty. Wouldn't use this tripod for long hunting trips or backpacking trips.

Lots of features for a little price.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

I've used the Ridgeview Tripod for the last several years on numerous hunts. It handles the heaviest of spotters perfectly. The ball head lets you quickly adjust the scope without a lot of bulk from a handle. another plus is that the tripod packs down small for backpack hunts.

Excellent Tripod

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

For the price this is a great tripod. We've taken them out on many hunts and it has preformed flawlessly. We did have on of the clips break but with the awesome VIP warranty it was back in action and ready for next season. I recommend it to just about anyone, including photographers or video dads filming their kids soccer games.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

Can be used at any angle while standing or sitting. Have used to scout in country i couldn't use most tripods. Folds up to the size of my spotting scope.

Nice light weight tripod

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

I have a 20x60x80 dimondback and this little light weight tripod holds it like a champ I love a having a bigger scope in the back country but I hate having to carry a big tripod to support it. But the Ridgeview is a small enough to not add a ton of weight but strong enough to carry a big spoting scope.

Perfect for baccountry hunts

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

I just bought this tripod this season for archery and Idaho. I have used it on three trip so far and it is amazing! This thing is so lightweight and easy to pack you forget that it's there. Easy setup very wide range of heights and great movement. I also use the binocular mount with my Vortex Diamondback binoculars to keep it steady for long periods of time. Vortex has it going on they are my only choice for Optics!

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

Bought this for my hunts last year had problems with the lower legs collapsing. Tightening them made no difference. Finished my hunt and sent them back. Got them back unwrapped them and still the same problem.

Not tough enough for every day use

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

I've had my ridgeview for 3 years now. overall the tripod itself is just fine for what you pay for. My only complaint is with the small handle that looosens and tightens the head, the screw will inevitably fall out during the middle of a hunt, rendering the whole tripod completely useless. I've gone through 3 handles in my 3 years. Even red loctite doesn't seem to help.

Very solid

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex Ridgeview Tripod - Black:

To be honest I don't have a lot of experience with tripods but when I mustered up the money for a diamondback spotting scope I figured I might as well outfit it with a nice bipod. I don't have anything to compare it to but this thing is solid. No complaints.
