I have had this tripod for about 2 years 6 months after I got it I took it out shooting pics of the aurora in -20F and the lever/knob/reel that allows me to swivel the head broke. The plastic could not handle the cold. I use a letherman now and it works fine. Otherwise it's a great tripod. I would order this again and just not use it below 0.

I've had this tripod for about 4 years now and taken it on several hunting trips. Kodiak brown bear, dall sheep, mountain goat, blacktail deer. The tripod is light and durable. I love the various adjustments and angles that can be done to with it. The only negative I have is that even when fully tightened, there is still a little wiggle that can make using a spotting scope difficult.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

I've only used it a few times in the field but well worth the money! Light and compact. Very adjustable. I've used it on steep hillsides with no problems getting it stabil and set for glassing.

bad warranty/quality

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

unhappy with the one i have. the locking spring came out of the head and my swarovski scope fell one the rocks not cool. so i tried to get warranty one the head from the spotting goods store where i got it and the vortex rep wanted it sent back. and i don't have time to deal with that sort of thing. the reason i went with vortex is people said the had good warranty not in my mind they don't. I also feel they are unstable and shaky. the adapter has no locking pin so the optics never stay tight

Won't be using this again or recommending.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

I thought this looked great out of the box but the tripod to scope mount is not secure, slides around too much and generally poses a poor design for scanning. I spend most of my time messing with the scope to tripod interface. Not a well designed product.

Light and dependable.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

I bought a vortex nomad spotting scope and needed something to mount it to. Looking around at all the different tri-pods I was leaning towards vortex. I bought the High line tripod because of how light and compact it was. When I initially bought it I was a little disappointed in that it only came with a two year warranty. After 3 years of using it I was in a hurry to glass some elk and accidentally pulled the entire leg out. I wasn't able to fix it exactly how it should be and so I emailed vortex. I was excited to find out they had changed their tripods to a lifetime warranty as well. Shipping it in they fixed it and had it back to me within 8 days. I was able to continue looking for elk during shed season. Vortex is known for their quality optics but this little tripod definitely shows they have their hand in other things as well.

This tripod is easy to use and great for backpacking, lightweight and condenses very small. I have used it with my vortex hd angled spotting scope and it works flawlessly. I would highly recommend this tripod.

Poor Quailty

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

I bought this tripod because it was lightweight and pack-able. When I got it out into the field on a sheep trip it failed miserably. Very flimsy, wouldn't support my scope at all. I was very disappointed. Do not buy this product if you have a bigger scope or binos you will not be happy. This tripod is not made for extreme back-country hunting!

Stay Away

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

Purchased the tripod at my local Cabelas. Got home and opened it to test it out. It broke the very first time I extended it. It is now a bipod.

I understand there are better options, but putting your name on a product like this just devalues the brand. I am very dissapointed and will be returning the tripod for one from a different company.

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex High Country Tripod - Black:

I have used this tripod for about 6 years. It is always in my pack. I replaced the ball head with a pan head as it suits my glassing style better. I do own a heavier tripod for use close to the truck but as the name suggests the "high country" is an excellent choice for backpack style of hunting.
