The Viper HD 12x50's are hands down the best bang for your $$$. I compared these to some swaros and granted there is a slight difference in low light conditions it did not warrant the extra price. That and in my home state it's illegal to shoot under those light conditions anyways. So, the main decision making point was the "warranty" and I must say it is an incredible one to boot... After using these beauties of craftsmanship and optics for both elk and deer hunts this year I must say with absolute certainty that the decision I made that day is one I will never regret. Thank you vortex for making a high end optics package available at a working mans price...........

Note I do not wear eyeglasses.

I recently purchased the Vortex Viper HD 6x32 and was really looking forward to owning them for a long time; however, upon taking them out for first light, I was quite disappointed.

I'm also very surprised no other reviewer had a similar issue as myself. The issue is that the eyecups for this model do not extend out far enough for that "ideal" viewpoint. The extremely long eye relief makes it very difficult to get a comfortable hold while viewing. (In the 6x32 case one has to suspend the binocular away from their face. The eyecups are all but useless.)

The lack of the extended eyecups creates "blackouts" because the eye isn't far enough away from the eyepiece. (You can simulate this by just twisting the eyecup down a step and attempting to look through the binocular.)

I had to return the Viper HD 6x32 as I just couldn't use them. I called Vortex CS and while the gentleman was considerate he wasn't all that helpful. Vortex should seriously consider selling an extended eyecup for this model.

Last year, I purchased the Viper HD 10x42 model and didn't have any issues. Since then, I've upgraded to the Razor HD 8x42 and 12x50 models.

I really hope Vortex considers a Razor HD 8x32 model in the near future.

I can't say enough about these!!

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

I purchased a pair of Vanguard Endeavor HD 10x42 binoculars quite a while ago. They are pretty nice for the price but after seeing how good binoculars could be if you're willing to spend a little money my wife wanted something better than her $50 Bushnells. After much research we decided on these and we couldn't be happier. Even though these are 8x as opposed to my Vanguards which are 10x, I feel I can see better with these because the glass is so bright and clear. I was a little worried that the smaller 32mm objective size would make them lacking in low light conditions but they are still superb. We both love how small and compact they are and fight over who gets to take them. They are great for bringing along when weight and size can be an issue. We primarily use them for hunting and birding.

Best High-Mid range binos on the market.

By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

I have had my Viper HD binos for the last 4 years and have used them for absolutely everything. They are the most clear, crisp, hard working binos I have every owned, and I can tell you I won't spend my money on anything else. Amazing glass, with an amazing warranty, with amazing customer. This glass is literally the best on the market for all the above reasons. I was able to glass these sheds up from over 350 yards away, I was able to pick them out among all the oak brush and plants and branches that were in the area. They taped out at 393 and are for sure a once in a lifetime set that I am extremely grateful for.

WOW I love this company

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

First I just have to say that this company is amazing. There isn't anyone out there even close to vortex. These binos are my 6th purchase from vortex and they work flawlessly. My buddy wants to get rid of his Zeiss and buy these binos. You will not be disappointed. I didn't think that a company like this would ever exist again. It's like your dealing with a small family owned business.

I am a guide in Alaska & Montana and I have been using these for over 7 years! They have held up very well and the glass is perfectly clear. These things have spotted over hundreds of elk, deer, sheep, moose, bears, and a lot more! Plus with the backing for their warranty, they cannot be beat!

Best binocular to carry in the field.

By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

I hunt more than three months each calander year. I own a pair of more "expensive" bino's, but prefer my viper 10x42 hd's. The first reason I prefer my viper's is the weight. Weighing about 10 ounces less than the competition makes for less tiring days. Second at half the price of my other pair I don't notice a difference in clarity, except in very low light situations. When there is that little light who is going to be able to get setup to shoot? Third. Vortex is second to none for customer service. I lost a lens cover, no big deal. I called and asked them to send a replacement. While talking to customer service they got my info and had another cover sent out. However that is not what impressed me the most, the service rep mentioned that I should send my bino's in to get cleaned and serviced when I had time and at no charge. I was super impressed. I'll be a customer for life.

Great Glass Will Improve Success

By

from North Pole, Alaska

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

I have had my Viper HD 10-42 binoculars for several years now and could not be happier. For years I purchased lower end binoculars because I just could not get myself to spend the money for high end glass. Vortex came on the market and I kept hearing good things about them. I decided it was time to give them a try. I was instantly amazed with the quality and improved visibility during low light.

During one of my hunts you could argue that they saved my life. I was caribou hunting in Alaska and we had been rained on almost every day for a week. Finally we got a break in the weather and found a ridge close to camp to do some glassing. We were just getting ready to go back to camp when we spotted something brown in the brush. It was a grizzly with two nearly grown cubs. We were close to camp and did not want them to wind us or the horses and come around on us when we were no paying attention. We decided to yell and make some noise to run her off. We were about 200 yards away but when we started yelling she came right to us. There didn't seem to be anything we could do to stop her. We gave warning shots at 100 yards but when she hit 30 she came in hard. We ended up having to shoot her in self-defense at 13 yards. If we had not seen her who know what would have happened. On that same trip I was involved in a horse wreck that resulted in me losing one of the covers to the binos. Without question Vortex replaced the cover.

On another hunt these glasses helped me get a great moose. My hunting partner and I were hunting in an area that had produced moose every year but was completely dry this year. About the fourth day I spotted something sever miles up a drainage that looked like a moose rump. As soon as I saw it, it vanished. It was too late to go check it out and I was not 100% what I saw. The next afternoon I decided to go check it out. Sure enough hidden the trees was a nice moose. Again these binoculars came through. I wish I had more space, I have more stories.

Best binocular brand for the money hands down!

By

Comments about Vortex Optics Vortex 15x50 Viper HD Binoculars:

I've had these binoculars for over 6 years and have used them on countless occasions during field season at work and hunting. Optical quality on par with high end brands like Leica, Ziess, and Swarovski. Does very well in all conditions including low light scenarios.
Vortex will definitely be my go to brand for optics.
