I like it.

By

from North Mississippi

I hadn't tied a fly in thirty years and bought this kit to try my hand at tying again. I never had an actual fly tying vise or any of the correct tools - just made do with what I had when I was a kid trying to imitate what I read about in Field & Stream. I've been able to use this kit to tie the panfish bugs and rubber legged foam spiders that I wanted years ago. I've had no problems at all with any of the tools and everything works as it should. I did purchase a hair stacker and a whip finisher separately along with some rubber leg material, craft foam and other materials that I knew I would want that weren't included in the kit. The only problem I've had is the included thread. It breaks very easily so I'll replace it. That's why I gave the kit 4 stars instead of 5. The included DVD helped me learn the basics and I've expanded on what the DVD shows to make my own creations. I've also used the tools to add squirrel tail and buck tail skirting to treble hooks.

This is a great kit to begin tying with. I haven't had a single problem with it. One thing that you may want to consider buying is a whip finisher. The instruction book does however tell you how to do it with your fingers.
