I conduct a lot of backpack hunts in the Desert Southwest; hunts that are in pursuit of Coues whitetail deer, Sonoran mule deer, javelina and even, mountain lion. In terms of an adequate shelter for one (1) client -- in other words, one (1) person -- during the months of November through February in the mountainous terrain of the Desert Southwest, this tent is about perfect. Granted, it's not an extreme expedition-style tent that you'd want to take to Alaska [where I also guide hunting clients], but if you're looking for a manageable backpack-style tent that provides functional and adequate shelter in conditions that range from light snow to heavy rain over a period of days, this tent is hard to beat for the price.
This tent is best used indoors or on a dry summer night. The condensation is horrible and the seams are poor. I should have returned it but instead put silicone caulking on all the sewed seams and used it on a 4 day hunt, one night with a downpour-still leaked a bit.. This is also barely large enough for me when laying diagonal inside but allows room for pack, bow and etc. I am 5'9". The zippers are terrible too. This is a cheap kids tent. Save you money and get a real tent.
Bought this for camping with the Boy Scouts-- great tent! Easy to assemble, has enough room for my cot and I can stand up. Plenty of extra room inside.
Bought this tent, which is listed as a three-person, for my sons' scout campouts. I always subtract one for comfort; nice for two. I like the full rain fly, which typical cheaper tents do not have. I do not like how the rainfly attaches to the tent, however. There is a simple shoelace-type tie at the top which is used to attach the fly to the poles where they cross at the top. It then hooks at each corner at the peg/eyelet. Even my Coleman has Velcro tabs and hooks for the fly to attach to the poles. Simple and inexpensive design would make it much more durable. I can see this fly taking a lot of stress in strong winds. Also, it does have two doors (nice) but when fully opened they fall to the floor. The door should fall to the side to keep it off the ground. Maybe not a big deal but these two items can be approved upon to make the tent better. I?d recommend to someone with the caution about the rainfly. Three stars considering the two flaws.
