For an affordable pan its not to bad. I have used this several times with some good luck. I wish that it had more ridges in it however but for something small and affordable it works ok.

We decided to go out gold panning one day at a local area known for it (Hatcher Pass) and took a few of these along. They were inexpensive and performed great in the field. The indentations allow you to finely control the angle and rate at which the separation occurs, leading to the occasional eureka moment where you see a flicker of gold. Exciting stuff!
