Started fly fishing with a $50 outfit (rod, reel, and line) in case I didn't get into it (wrong!). Got hooked on fly fishing and went to Sportsman's where sales person recommended this as a good step up that would last for years. Indeed. Caught a ton of fish on this combo. Only improvement was new fly line (wise investment). While I've upgraded to a much higher-end rod, the Ross continues to be used by my daughter or as a backup for me -- and it wouldn't bother me at all if I had to fish with this set up all day. The reel is bomb proof, and is now used regularly by my wife. The case is the best I've ever seen, and it's the one I use on every trip (even high-end rods don't come with a better case), and the DVD is very helpful for those new to fly fishing.
