Garbage. Taking it back
I purchased the 20-60X80 model figuring bigger is better, right? As it turns out a $300 scope is a $300 scope. Could be that I was expecting too much from the Redfield name. I gave it good workout over the weekend and found it to be OK up to around 40X, but after that the sight picture starts getting dark and loses clarity no matter how much fine tuning is done. I'll be taking it back to Sportsman's and just anti-up for good quality glass.
My wife gave me this scope for my birthday and we both love it.She compared it to others in the price range at the store and found this to be the best value for the money. It has great features (the case, the shade, and the strap) and great clarity (a little dark after 40x) . The included tripod is too short, but everything else is just great. I thought I wanted an angled scope, but after birding Lake Tahoe with this one, I decided the straight scope is just right. I doubt you could get a better scope under $1k.
This is by far the best spotter available for around 200 dollars.I was reading license plates at about 350yds.and a sticker on a transmission tower at about 300yds.A nice carry bag, metal, not plastic tripod tethered objective cover, screw on ocular cap=good value.Have upgraded tripod with a Burris combination tripod/window mount.NOW AN AWESOME KIT,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the money.I suspect that this spotter is also a Vortex Nomad ,another good product, but cost more than the Redfield.
