I have a 3-9x40 prostaff that came with my Savage Trophy Hunter in 7mm Mag. This is a fantastic scope. I love it so much that I bought another one for my Howa 1500 in .223. I love the BDC reticle. Some other manufacturers don't carry a BDC reticle. Once you learn how to use it, it is easy to go to the Nikon SpotOn website and print out a chart for your caliber and bullet (lots of different brands) that I tape to the buttstock of my rifle. It allows me to quickly adjust the zoom to put a shot on just about any distance I want without messing with my zero.
I am planning on buying a second 3+9+40 as first time out brought back 3 hogs and 5 deer the B.C.D.is great just sorry didn't get a shot over 122 yards all 1 shot kills the one I have now is on 308 the second one I'm buying is going on300 mag for elk moose and caribou ,maybe bear with this scope I'm not wandering what I might kill but when do I get the chance
I have several Nikon scopes. A prostaff on a 308 that has performed great. My daughter uses it and believe me it takes a beating and has always held zero. The Nikon spoton web site is great to tune your BDC to the load your shooting. In my opinion Nikon glass is clearer and sharper that other scopes costing much more.
I've had a few Nikon scopes, but this is my first Prostaff. I wanted a 3-9X40 to put on my .223 because most of the shots I take are within 100 yards. No reason to go overkill on my scope. It's nice value for the money.
