THis little guy puts out a lot of heat and does it well. I love the different settings and the fan. worked awesome when the power went out int the winter.
J Bethune of Arvada, CO - September, 26 2011:I used a gift certificate I had received for Christmas to purchase this Heater. I did not get a chance to use the heater till late summer. The unit would heat up and then the pilot light would go out later the gas would shutoff. I checked the elevation with My GPS and found to be around 7000 feet in elevation. I chalked it up to experiance and returned home to try it in the garage. at 5600 feet in elevation it did the same thing. the unit would light right back up and then shutoff. I cleaned the pilot tube per the insructions even though it is brand new. I later found out it is no longer under manufacturers warranty because of the oxygen depletion sensor. I threw it in the trash! I would not recommend any of these heaters as they do not stay lit at higher than 5000 feet in elevation and yes they still sell them in the Mile High City. Maybe I purchased one that was defective, but Mr. Heater did not try to support the product once it was out of warranty. Beware future buyers.
Mark of North Ogden, UT - October, 23 2010:I have had a Buddy heater for about 5 years before I bought the Big Buddy. Wow, with that fan it really puts out the heat! I can heat my 2 car garage with no problem. I bought the hose so I can connect it right to my 5 gallon propane tank; I can run it a long time. It is really safe indoors!
M of Adrian, GA - January, 27 2013:I use it for my weekend hunting/camping trips and love it. The fan option makes it much better than the smaller model.
Jon of Colo Spgs, CO - March, 10 2013:It will not work in Mtns the oxygen sensor wont let it stay lit
Rick of Ogden, UT - April, 01 2013:A great little heater. I spend 6 months of the summer at a beautiful lake in Utah. When on the water in my boat my GPS shows an elevation of a little over 7600 feet. I have never had any problem of any sort except having to true the heat down. For those having a problem at high elevation.....I really don't understand. I also have 2 friends who up there at the same place and they have never had a problem.
Dave Waldinger of Waterford, PA - January, 03 2011:Bought for a friend because i have one of my own. Planing on buying another fo myself.
