Bomb Proof

Comments about Marmot Thor 3 Person Four Season Expedition Tent:

Used this tent on a 9 day trip through Torres Del Paine Chile. Housed two adults and a teenager with no problems and room for gear. Vestibule was awesome, holding packs and boots with room to maneuver in and out. Stood up to all night downpours and winds that were toppling other tents. Wife and I split tent between us due to weight which worked great. Storage pockets are deep and loft pocket at top was great for holding watch, headlamp, and incidentals. D-rings inside tent allowed me to string a clothesline for drying gear. Tent performance exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to take it out again.

Old Friend Back

Comments about Marmot Thor 3 Person Four Season Expedition Tent:

Owned a Citadel for many years in which we lived on tundra rivers, high plateau of Tibet, and many other remote area trips where it was our reliable and comfortable home. It finally became worn beyond repair. The Thor is its successor with a bit more efficient rigging. It will outlast us.

Comments about Marmot Thor 3 Person Four Season Expedition Tent:

I bought this tent a year ago, and have used it in both summer and winter conditions. Its a solid tent, has lots of space inside (easily fit 4 people), very waterproof, good size vestibule and has all the required attachment to buckle down for a storm. Only con is that its pretty heavy

Bad Parts

Comments about Marmot Thor 3 Person Four Season Expedition Tent:

I have this tent and the rain fly works it's self loose in high winds and starts to flap and destroys the tent poles. We had to go outside every couple of hours and tighten it up, We had bent tent poles and some that flew apart.

A great tent for cool conditions

Comments about Marmot Thor 3 Person Four Season Expedition Tent:

We live in Northern California and camp in fall, winter and spring. The nights can get cold (typically 20s - low 40s) so a typical mesh tent isn't great. This tent is a huge upgrade over what we have used in the past. My only suggestions to Marmot are: 1) make it clearer in the instructions which door is the "front" door, since it matters when putting up the fly (the front is the side with the double-grommets) and 2) put mesh pockets along the entire long side of the tent -- not just near the front. Those are the least useful since I want them near my head as I sleep (to put glasses or a headlamp, etc.)
