I have other high end scopes and had planned on a Nightforce for this project. I ended up buying Vortex, Nightforce, and this Leupold. In the end, I mounted the Leupold and returned the others. I do like the Nightforce, Vortex, Burris, B&L and Zeiss scopes I have on other guns but none are better and the ones of equal quality cost much more. I have actually used the lifetime warranty once as well and it can't be beat. I had a 30 year old 20 power when they were made out of 2 pieces. I was pulling it through some packaging and pulled it apart. Sent it in and they sent me the latest and greatest 20 power they had in stock with no questions.

My rebate

The scope is amazing but i was suppose to get a $50 rebate with the purchase. I sent it off and the company never sent me my rebate.

Excellent Hunting Scope

By

from AZ, United States

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

I bought two of the VX-3 2.5-8x36 scopes three years ago, based on my experience with a 1982 Leupold 2-7x36 I have and still use and Mark4 8.5-25x50 Leupold. I predator hunt. The 2-7 power Leupold came on a 1982 Savage 243 I bought used several years ago. I added three more calibers for predator hunting. I setup the two VX-3 2.5-8 power scopes with CDS dials for the three cartridges. I have 204, 223, and 243 calibers with all zeroed at Max Point Blank Range (MPBR). If I have ranged the area ahead of time, the CDS dials or B&C reticles help beyond MBDR. I am hard on my equipment, not by intention it is just how I operate. These scopes have worked flawless and held zero. In predator hunting we will take the rifles in and out of the truck several times each day and carry them with all our gear going to & from the stands, so the rifle/scope is handled a great deal. These scopes have held up through all this handling, jarring Arizona washboard roads, being laid down on the ground repeatedly at each hunt stand as we setup and leave the stands, all the while trying to be silent. I needed to add another scope and tried another brand. The research had said the quality could be hit or miss, mostly very good. This other scope would not hold zero. It started out okay then went astray. After a few boxes of different ammo that normally shot very well with the VX-3's, I decided to ran a scope comparison at the range at 100 yards. The 243 55 grain and 204 Ruger 40 grain both hold normally hold a very tight comparable group with the VX-3 scopes. The new other scope was mounted on the 243, because that VX-3 scope was put on a new rifle as a backup to the other 204 rifle. This new scope had a max power of 18. The Leupold VX-3 at 8x holds a five shot one MOA group as always. My fliers make the group this size. The rifle and scope are always capable of producing tighter groups, as produced by my daughter. The other scope shot four and five inch groups at 100 yards. The other scope company was very nice about about returning or replacing their scope, good people. After the years of use in my hands the Leupold have become a trusted tool. I cannot afford to be a couple hundred miles from home on a hunt have a rifle loose zero or fog up on me. I recommend Leupold, and am looking at the D-EVO with my HWS as a new combination for predator hunting. Coyotes have the ability to be far away or right on top of you in no time with no warning in AZ. In many areas where we hunt, we take a rifle and shotgun. In these cases we are holding the shotgun with the rifle on a bipod at the ready. We also hunt from an A-frame ladder for better visibility in some areas. If I am holding a rifle the 2.5 power setting is a good starting point for close up surprises. In most cases I have a couple seconds to make things happen or the opportunity is gone. I have missed some because I needed more power than 2.5 power. I have missed some because the time to change power was too much and the coyote took cover. I hope to try the D-EVO to see if this can reduce my reaction time. If not I will stay with the VX-3 2.5-8 scopes and add a third to the 243.

Nice 6x36 scope

By

from Manistee, MI, United States

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

I am totally impressed with my new FX-II 6x36 scope. The tracking was perfect when sighting in. After which, I shot the best 5 shot group ever with my Rem. 7400. 0.745"!! I was worried about precision shooting with a 6x scope, but, this clearly shows that higher power isn't needed to shoot good groups. The clarity of this scope is phenominal. I may have to buy a several more of these. The windage and elevation turrets are great and much better than I expected.

Fantastic Scope!

By

from Montana

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

I purchased this scope, my very first variable ever, last year to put on my .280 AI I had built on a Winchester Model 70. I went with the B&C reticle and I love this scope. I took my very first animal which was a large cow elk at 450 yards with one shot! The scope worked perfectly and the very next week I also got a nice little 4 pt. whitetail buck. Again with one shot at 250 yards. The 4.5-14x40mm Leupold is what I consider a perfect match of size and performance for everything from short to long. That and you cannot beat the warranty on this USA made product. Good folks and a great company! I have several Leupold scopes on rifles and that is the only brand I own. I also have a Leupold Gold Ring Spotting 20x50mm spotting scope, and Leupold Gold Ring compact binoculars. Keep making such fantastic products here in the USA! David

Not for the lazy hunter

By

from Estes Park, CO, United States

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

I bought two of these scopes in the 1980's for two Sako rifles in 7mm mag and .300 Wetherby Mag. I have hunted with both until the 7 mag was stolen from my home about ten years ago. Both the rifles and the scopes have been excellent. They don't ever miss, only the shooter does. The work part of their use is constantly adjusting for the current conditions. As I move through the mountains, usually Colorado, New Mexico or the Texas Hill Country, I leave the power setting on 6.5 and continuously adjust the parallax for the anticipated distance. I get almost constant criticism for using a "target" scope for hunting with most of the comments being about one's inability to hold such a scope "steady." My response is that no one can hold any scope "steady" in hunting conditions; the lower the magnification, the less you will notice the movement of the crosshairs. I find that with the higher magnification the movement of the reticles is over a smaller portion of the target and thus, my accuracy increases. The high power scopes work for me and that is all that matters. Thanks for such a clear and accurate product. Almost all my scopes are Leupold (I have some "used" rifles that had scopes on them and I left them on if they were on target). Never found anything better at any price.

Great product

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

Best scope I have ever purchased. This is on my deer rifle, and, I can't get over how clear, and, how easy it is to find the target for the shot. The light gathering is exceptional, and I have been troubled with eye problems, such as, astigmatism, and retina, issues. I have shot rifles with some very expensive scopes, costing, 5 times, or more, the price of this Leupold VX-3-10x50, and I would choose this one, and feel just as confident.

As reliable & durable as they come!

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

While wild pig hunting in California, my Ruger M77 Mk-2 in .338 Winchwster Magnum took a header off of my quad at around 25mph. When I checked for zero, the Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36 was still right on target, & the scopecoat kept from getting scratched. Lifelong believer in Leupold products!

What an incredible scope!

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

Just returned from a South Dakota prairie dog outing with my son and one of our customers. All of us were using Leupold products ranging from VX-2's to the newest VX-3i. My favorite combination is a Tikka M595 Sporter in .22-250 with a VX-3 EFR Target 6.5-20x40. Easily enjoying clean kills beyond 600 yards with this setup.

Best scope.

By

from Oklahoma, United States

Comments about Leupold VX-3 Rifle Scope:

In my opinion this is the perfect size and weight scope. I own/have owned several of this particular scope, along with many other Leupold scopes, but this model is my favorite. And like all Leupold optics, the optical quality is second to none. I'm a hunter, not a target shooter (for pleasure anyway), so the size and weight of the scope is the most important thing to me. And this scope is just the right size. I would HIGHLY recommend this scope to anyone.
