This boot is super durable and comfortable. It is good for aggressive terrain. Price is high but this boot is definitely worth the money. It will last a long time.Rob Newcomer of Shasta Lake, CA - July, 29 2012:
Don't know about these boots. Felt great at home. Wore around house 20 days, 5 miles on elipticle, 3 miles on treadmill 1 mile on 10 incline. Half mile uphill in Trinity Alps on 13 mile hike half dollar size blisters on back of both feet and one pulled hamstring from compensating at the end of hike. Sportsmans just said sorry. I get that but $340 later felt a little jipped. Would not buy them again.Jason of Redmond, OR - October, 23 2014:
So far I have only been wearing these boots around town and the house getting them broken in to my feet. First impressions are VERY VERY comfortable. I got them to replace another brand of boot that I had to send back 3 TIMES due to manufacturer defects. I can not wait to get these boots out on the trail.Blacktail Slayer of Coos Bay, OR - February, 01 2015:
These boots did not need any break-in time for myself. They were the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and have kept my feet dry for 4 years now. I'm amazed at how long these boots have lasted with with all the use and abuse I put them through. I'm a wildlife tech that works out in the woods in western Oregon all day long. We get an insane amount of rain every year along with hot summers. This boots are also used for all my hunting, scouting, any hiking I do from in the sand on the beach to up in the mountains on backpack adventures. The price seemed high to me before I bought my boots but well worth it. There was not a single pair of boots that didn't have to be replaced every year with the amount of time I wore them and the I put them through. That is not even close to the case with these boots. No need to look any further for a boot that could last a lifetime while also keeping your feet dry.Bret of Bend, OR - February, 19 2015:
Most people seem to write reviews of products before they have had adequate time to test it. This is not the case with my review. My job has me hiking through forests and deserts around the country approximately 6 months out of the year, so I tend to fork over the money for a quality pair of boots. With Kenetrek, I was a little hesitant based on the price, but had heard they were good. They call these boots the "hardscrabble," which is quite funny considering that when I sent them in for repair they told me that I needed their heavier duty, more expensive boot for what I was doing, because these are not designed for extremely rocky terrain or traversing talus slopes. Well....then change the name to trail-scrabble and cut the price in half, because I can buy a pair of Meindl boots for nearly half the price and they will hold up far better. Ultimately, the stitching was popping out on both boots in less than a year, and the leather is prone to chunk out of the side walls...not to mention that the soles wear down extremely fast. The boots are fairly comfortable, and I think if they put a polyurethane coating over the stitching, used a more hardened leather that is more durable, and used a better sole material that would actually hold up over time, these would be pretty good boots....but still substantially overpriced! To top it off, their customer service is awful! To be fair, their customer service ladies are very nice, but I definitely can't say the same for the manager of their warranty department. Aside from all of these issues, when you spend $400 on a pair of boots, the soles should hold up. If they don't, you shouldn't have to pay $75 to get them replaced! I can buy a $200 pair of boots and never have the soles wear out, so when I spend double that, I expect quality that will last. Perhaps you are thinking that my boots represent one faulty pair of boots. Well, my coworker sent his back in less than 6 months because the soles were falling apart.Gruff Goat of Missoula, MT - March, 10 2015:
I absolutely love these boots, I have 2 pairs of Kenetreks now and can't say enough good things about them. Tough as nails and super comfortable, once you put them on you'll never want to take them off. After reading some of the other reviews I had to laugh. Bret in particular seems to have an axe to grind, and it makes you wonder when half his information is incorrect. For instance, in 2015 the resole fee is not $75, it's $150 and you can request a harder Vibram sole. I bet he called in demanding freebies like a welfare queen and they told him to stuff it. Personally I like the softer rubber because when I'm 20 miles out in the backcountry I like knowing that my boots will have traction; it can be the difference between a successful hunt and a broken leg. I love my Kenetreks, I maintain them properly and after 3 years when it was time to have my boots resoled I sent them in for repairs and bought a pair of Mountain Extremes. If you are looking for the best boots on the market, look no further.
