Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

This is everything a mountaineering pack should be. Lightweight, durable, and very versatile. I have been using it over the past few months for splitboard mountaineering in British Columbia and Alaska. It has yet to let me down. I love the way it feels on my back, regardless if it's loaded with gear for a week-long hut traverse or just a day out touring. When not stuffed, the 50 liter cinches down much smaller and it's easy to forget that it's capable of carrying a lot more. Gregory's attention to detail is great as it has so many useful features, including removable brain and other parts, the crampon storage, side zip, and more. I am continually finding more useful features as I use it for different tasks in the mountains. However, I do wish that the wand storage pocket on the side was bigger so that I could better fit my ski poles in them. It's fine as it is, but requires a bit of finagling to get the pole grips to fit. All in all, a comfortable pack for carrying gear in the backcountry.

Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

This pack has been well designed for the alpine climber, with minimal feature sets that mimic the needs of the modern alpinist. Modern tools fit easily, and the crampon pocket is great for a guidebook or waterbottle for day of cragging. The side zip access is good for getting to the necessary items without fully going into the pack. The yellow color is easy to spot on even whiteout conditions, and makes searching for the small items that dropped to the botttom of the pack easy. The floating top lid, removable bivy, and removable waistbelt make this the go-to alpine rig.

Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

I got this pack for an alpine trip to Pakistan, but it seems to work for all my climbing needs. I used it as a carry on at the airport, loaded it down for the 5 day approach to base camp, and then pared it down to the needs of day scouting missions and further for summit pushes. It was comfortable and carried well when loaded with all my gear and camp equipment, but also could be stripped down for multi-day pushes on big alpine faces. It is a great all around pack, designed with the alpine climber in mind.

Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

I have used this backpack in backcontry skiing, mountain klimbing and ice climbing in Norway. The backpack gives a lot of good features. Necessary in the harish mountain terrain in Norway.

I have taken my Alpinisto on many climbing trips, winter and summer, and it is enduring the abuse very well. It is comfortable, light, and simple but still offers great load support. Very sturdy!

most versatile pack i've ever owned

Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

I know this has been designed as an alpine pack, but it has functioned flawlessly for me as a crag pack and even a travel pack. The suspension carries small to medium loads just fine and the strippable components are fantastic if you're carrying a bit less. It's comfortable on approaches and scrambles and surprisingly turned out to be the perfect travel pack for a recent trip to South America. Removing the top lid and waist best made it perfect for carry on and the side zipper is fantastic for grabbing water, a snack, or extra layer without having to open up and rifle through the whole thing. The removable emergency bivy pad is great for a nice quick seat at the base of a climb or a bus terminal floor. Awesome.

          Awesome alpine climbing pack

Comments about Gregory Alpinisto 50 Internal Frame Pack 2012 Model - Alpine Gold Large:

I love this pack, super burly material, but still pretty light weight. The best thing I can say is that it carries super well. Heavy load, light load, it doesn't matter, it feels the same on my back, and that is what I have noticed most. Impressive.
