Not very rugged, not built to last a drop.

Comments about Goal Zero Switch Recharger:

I purchased a solar panel kit with a switch10 recharger not too long ago. GoalZero makes some great products but they need to be babied. When I dropped (my mistake) the Switch10 while using a flashlight attachment, Switch10 Recharger fall apart. The USB accessory connector head separated from the battery compartment. I managed to put it back, but it keeps separating because the battery pushes the USB connector outwards. Over time (about 3 full recharge cycle) the threads became loose and doesn’t hold the head in place anymore. Stay away from Switch10.

THE BEST gear in GOAL ZERO. Swappable power source ... mini Lighthouse Screw in modules ... no damage to USB Impressed my crew which they keep in their car and uses on backpacking trips.

flexible functional

Comments about Goal Zero Switch Recharger:

Another quality flexible GZ product. I bought it with the flash light attachment - highly recommend that. The power pack charged my iPhone 6S Plus, no problem. the built-in small LED light is handy. I travel with the flashlight head. That turns the power pack into a flashlight, saving some weight overall by combining the two into one. plus the flashlight head can be powered independently from any usb input.

A Keeper

By

Comments about Goal Zero Switch Recharger:

I bought the switch 10 because I use Goal Zero products often. I keep comparing the switch 10 to my old switch 8 which I've used and recharged hundreds of times. The 10 is a bit smaller and has the mini LED light built in which is nice, but I have the outstanding flashlight attachment for the 8 while one is not yet available separately for the 10. The fan attachment works on both, they both appear to charge USB gear at the same rate, and both charge from the Nomad 7 and 3.5 solar panels. Therefore, functionally the 8 is more useful than the 10 so I keep the 8 with me daily. The attached pics show the story. Switch 8 on top in first two pics, switch 8 in third pic.

Love it, if only more durable

Comments about Goal Zero Switch Recharger:

I am on my 3rd switch 10. The first stopped charging after about 3 months and the 2nd most recently broke when the top of the unit came free of the main body of the unit. However, it were not for the durability issues I have had with the unit, it would be an easy 5 starts, 6 if they had them. I have taken it on a week long trip to Isle Royale and it provided enough juice to keep my phone charged with light usage. The best features are the super bright flashlight and fan. I was skeptical of the fan at first, but it is the best thing for getting those stubborn damp camp fires going in the backwoods. IT is also a God send on the hot and humid summer nights in the Midwest. I bought a 1 Meter USB extension to bring along both for easier charging and it is super handy to run through a gear loop in your tent and put the fan on one end and the switch on the other. It provides just the right amount of air movement to sleep comfortably. The flashlight is super bright for such a small unit and half the time I just keep the unit near me in my tent for the small light in the body for the evening potty breaks. Be aware, however, I just recently got a replacement for mi first generation that was part of the Switch 10 Kit and the Micro USB cable that came with it is not the nice screw on threaded cable you see in the pictures, it just a cheap non-branded cable. A shame, as so many of us have been clamoring for a Apple Lightning cable for years. Amazon just released their second generation of generic lighting cables and Goal Zero has yet to make one. Overall a great little unit if a few flaws that will hopefully be worked out in the future. Goal Zero makes great productions and their customer service is top notch. Even if it seems I have to call them quite a bit.
