I have had a few manual throwers over the years and shot off several others. This thrower works very well. The only thing I did was add a base platform.
No instructions on how to adjust the angle of throw. Not difficult to assemble. HOWEVER, it would not throw. When cocked, there was no pressure on the trigger and it would not release unless when the trigger was pulled. A call to technical assistance resulted in directions to take some of the bend out of the swiveling spring hook, it is bent about 30 degrees. I took about half of the bend out and it would still not throw. Another call to technical service and I was instructed to completely straighten the hook. Off it comes again and I hammered it straight. Re-installation and it seems to work now. My question to technical service was why is it bent if it needs to be straight. They had no answer but did offer to send me a new hook, which I accepted. Wonder if it will be bent? This thing seems to be sturdy and it does throw when it works. I would not buy another one.
Bought this item for christmas. My 16 yr old daughter put it together, it was that easy. We took it out shooting today. I was very impressed in the operation of it. It was consistent with throwing the clay targets. I would recommend this to friends and family. It worked outstanding. For the price you pay for it, you get something that will last. The craftsmanship is there.
Happy with the thrower. Setup took some adjustments to get the clays moving right. Only throws about 40 - 50 yards. Portability is good, but you have to adjust the angle of the thrower to make it fit in the back seat of a car.
I do a lot of shooting before bird season kicks off each year, I got tired of using the hand thrower over and over and decided to pick one of these up to see how it worked. I am glad I picked this up, makes shooting clays more fun and more practical for practicing. This has really helped me improve my shooting abilities a great deal.
