At 6'2", one hundred ninety five pounds the large tall fits perfect! Its my only bad weather coat. Very warm in the winter, and I treat my clothing very, very hard. This survives anything. I will never own anything but a Carhartt. This jacket is 12 to 15 years old and I think I'm going to get a new one, this still serves it's purpose, but at this point it's best to wear it around the yard. The only problem is the longer I wear it the more comfortable it becomes, it will take a little while to break the new one in to be as comfortable as this one. Highly, highly recommend

I bought this jacket to replace an old down jacket. I expected this jacket would keep me as warm as down because it is "Arctic Quilt- Lined." It did not. I tested the jacket during the very cold weather on Long Island. The temperature was -20F with the wind chill. I felt cold in my arms and side. For overall warmth, I needed a down liner. Otherwise, if you plan on being outside in 25F with no wind then the warmth of the "Arctic Quilt" will do. I recommend this jacket for quality of construction. However, I do not recommend for overall warmth.

Great jacket but!

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

I love this jacket it looks great and feels great on but it's nowhere near artic weight insulation in my opinion. I was out walking my dog in February weather in the UK the average temperature being around 3 to 5degreesc And I was not warm I wasn't freezing but I thought this jacket would have been much warmer as it is advertised as being insulated to artic weight. The zipper is a complete nightmare to use and I would hate to be trying to close this jacket with cold hands. Also the handwarmer pockets need to be lined with a warm soft material to do there job. As I have said I love this coat and it could be a world class jacket with a little attention to detail. I hope the folks at carhartt are listening. And yes I would buy this jacket again even with its faults.

Warmer than expected!

By

from Montreal, QC, Canada

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

I got my C26 about 2 weeks ago and had the opportunity to test it last weekend in real winter conditions. I live in Montreal, QC (Canada). The temperature went down to -27C (-17F) with a windchill factor around -38C (-36F). I wore the same layers of wool I would under my big parka and put on the C26. I was just as warm as with my parka without the ridiculous bulk. It was perfect to walk around town. I did not spend hours outside as I would with the huge parka but staying active, walking around, I was perfectly protected from the wind and the cold. I was really impressed!

Not color fast at all - stay away!

By

from New York, NY, USA

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

The coat is incredibly stiff, so I washed it once only exactly according to the instructions on the garment tag. It came out covered in white streaks where the color was washed away unevenly. Now I am stuck with this piece of garbage, because it cannot be returned once it is washed. I will not wear it in public, because I would look like a hobo.

"Northern Alberta" Warm

By

from Alberta

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

Im 6' 2" tall and the large tall fits nice and loose. I have a lot of room to move without any sensation of binding, and the coat is light enough that it doesn't weigh on your shoulders. I wear this coat with long underwear and a wool sweater, and I'm good to -40 up in northern Alberta, Canada. My only regret ot that I didn't get the golden color, which is more visible in low light conditions. All around, this coat is great value, durable and fits great for movement rather than "cut".

Stands up to the Chicago cold

By

from Chicago, IL, USA

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

This coat not only looks great, but also keeps you nice and warm. It kept me warm on the coldest nights so far this year here in Chicago. I also wear a Carhartt Rutland zip-front sweatshirt underneath. This coat looks great enough that I wear it outside of work as well. Pros: Will keep you warm, feels very durable, high quality Cons: Not made in the USA anymore, can be hard to drive in

Warmest coat I've ever worn.

By

from Bloomington, IN, USA

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

Very comfortable, looks good and is very warm considering that it's not bulky. I have full range with my arms and I really like the cuffs keeping out the cold. I bought the 5xl and it feels very true to size.

Sling Blade's Coat, Pantlegs for Sleeves.

By

from Ohio

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

This is my second Carhartt Coat and I gave the other one away. Both fit like some derelict sling blade groundskeeper state issue coat at some mental health facility. First the cuffs, or should I say what cuffs? Just two giant holes with no way to make them tighter around your wrist that hang just annoyingly to far down on your hands. Again, no real cuffs. Pant legs, I mean sleeves, basically pant leg diameter sleeves with enough room to put practically both arms into the same sleeve or maybe a leg- just in case. Coat did fit well around the chest but way to much room in the arms and the cuffs absolutely ruin the whole coat. One size fits all from 500-900 pounds, except I weigh well under 200 and I bought the recommended size Large, should have specified I was HUMAN instead of Gorilla. If I didn't care to be seen in public, or wasn't worried about getting tazed by Fish and Game for looking like an escaped animal from a research lab- I might wear this coat. I got the brown one also, so I look like a bear when I'm wearing it, keeps the neighbors on their toes. Is that a bear? Nope, just your neighbor in his giant coat. Worse part I got this with a very nice gift card, which means I can only exchange it for another Carhtard coat.

will last forever

By

from N.E / mid atlantic

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sandstone Traditional Coat - Black XXL:

I bought this jacket 24-25 years ago. This is the only jacket I ever owned that has lasted longer than 2 years! I've been outside in heavy snowstorms in -20-30 degree temps, and have never gotten so cold that I couldn't stand it!!!! The jacket is truly water repellant and wind resistant. The jacket was stiff the first couple of years but still comfortable. This jacket is way better than competitors brands for the price
