I agree pretty much with everyone else in most aspects, so will save you from being redundant and get right to my one complaint: pocket insulation. While standing or walking in the cold, with both hands in the pockets, the bottom front of the coat tends to “bell outward just simply from the “hang of my hands being pressed into the pockets. This belling tends to pull the cold wind up and into the coat. While the draw string 7 or so inches up from the bottom can ensure that the cold wind does not make its way into my torso, it does not help with the inside of the pockets. The interior front of the pockets are completely Sherpa lined, the interior rear of the pockets are not, surely due to the coat’s interior Sherpa lining. The interior of the coat is Sherpa lined, but this lining stops roughly 2 inches from the zipper. This leaves about a 1.5 inch strip of un-insulated interior pocket area to rapidly get cold when in cold and windy conditions and your hands are in the pockets and the air is being drawn into this area from the belling of the bottom front of the coat. While the sleeves seal nicely to the pocket openings, and the front of the Sherpa lined pocket effectively insulates the cold wind from the exterior of the coat, the interior most portion of the pockets remains cold due to the above. And the worst part is that this is the portion where your bare hands and fingers are curled up to keep warm, right at that inner most portion. This is rather defeating really, and seems like simple oversight on the design of the coat. To get around this I either have to wear gloves while my hands are in the pockets (defeating in itself) or walk awkwardly to keep the front of the coat from belling. A simple design solution would be to carry the coat’s interior Sherpa lining just another 1 inch closer to the zipper. Still love the coat all the same, but fixing this would make it all the better!

I'm 5'7", 44" chest, 41" waist, wear size 36 jeans. The sizing of this jacket will probably fail 99% of users. As per the recommendation of many reviewers that stated it would run big I ordered a medium. Long story short the shoulders looked like I could wear football shoulder pads underneath, the hem line was about 3 inches too long, the arms were almost 2 inches too long, and instead of a slim fit it seemed like I could stash two footballs under the jacket. Returned that one, ordered a size smaller. That one had correct shoulders and correct hem, but everything else was tiny; arms too short, I could not even zip it close by a long short. The 'Medium' is more like a large+/extra large, the small is well, small. They missed an entire size in between. not to mention that the overall dimensions would be way too long, way too wide shoulders, ensuring it would look nothing like on the model pictures on just about anybody remotely close enough.

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat - Dark Brown LT:

I love my jacket I purchased one from an outdoor store about 6 years ago and I love it I live in an area in NY where we get cold winters and I haven't looked back at any other coat after all this time it's still holding up but it is getting worn so I'm thinking of retiring this one but I will defenitly be getting another carhartt for the winter season I also have a lighter one for fall as well as a vest. Best durable jacket ever

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat - Dark Brown LT:

Im on my second of this jacket, my first one lasted about 6 years. I finally bought a new one last year because it was wearing out. The new one is still nice, but is wearing out a whole lot quicker, one of the elbows has a large hole and the other is wearing thin.

AWESOME

By

from Upstate NY

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat - Dark Brown LT:

I am blown away with this coat!!! i bought this coat thinking it would be good for the autumn months in Upstate NY. We're well into a frozen winter, -10 averages temps, and this coat is still keeping me warm. During the cold months of sub zero temps with snow I wear a base layer and this coat with my Carhartt Bib Overalls and I am just fine to work outside all day. The ONLY complaint I have is that the sherpa lining doesn't go down the sleeves, its the arctic quilt in the sleeves, which is nice too but... I like the sherpa; I think it traps more air and keeps you warmer than the quilting.

Everything and More

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat - Dark Brown LT:

Could not ask for a better coat. Working in a lumber yard this coat meets all my demands. i really appreciate the cuff construction, between the tight cuffs locking out the cold, and the sleeves keeping out debris, such a great combination. The chest pocket is a God send when doing work overhead, needing to keep tools and parts close at hand. For those of us who prefer to layer and find a hood restricting, this coat could not be better or more versatile. Thank you for such a great product

Men's Sandstone Ridge Coat / Sherpa-Lined

Comments about Carhartt Men's Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat - Dark Brown LT:

Great coat. I like the idea of the two way zipper. The only minor complaint is that the coat is a little stiff when first purchased.
