CVA Optima V2 .50Cal Northwest Muzzleloader Camo-Stainless(1382277)
CVA Optima V2 .50Cal Northwest Muzzleloader Camo-Stainless -CVA’s new line of “Northwest Guns” offer all of the features that shooters love in our Optima break-action models, while still meeting the open-breech/ignition requirements of Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
CVA Optima V2 .50Cal Northwest Muzzleloader Camo-Stainless - The CVANorthwest Ignition System features a modified version of our Quick Release Breech Plug (QRBP) – the only breech plug that is completely finger removable even after multiple firings. This “NW QRBP” has four milled “windows” around the gripping surface, which renders the ignition “open to the elements” as required the muzzleloading regulations of these states. It also features an integral nipple designed for use with traditional Musket Cap primers, and the face of the plug is funnel shaped for more reliable ignition with loose propellants. Plus, a firing pin sized specifically for musket caps and a stronger firing pin spring provide fast and reliable ignition of the propellant charge.

I purchased this weapon after researching the reviews and on-line videos of the many muzzleloaders on the market. It had to be legal for Washington state and many of the ones I reviewed were not. This is my first go around with muzzleloading and I must say this rifle made it easy. My first shots with it to sight it in were quite a surprise. At 100 yards it was right on. I was also impressed with the lack of recoil from a 50 cal. Very comfortable to shoot. My second round at the range also provided another surprise. The rear sight popped off. My suggestion would be to make sure and check the sights for tightness. After securing the rear sight, no more problems and still right on the mark. This rifle is also very easy to clean. The breach plug is easily removed and allows for cleaner, brushes, and patches to clean the entire barrel length. Drop the breach plug into a cleaning solution and let it soak while you clean the barrel. I have never had a misfire with this rifle even here in the rainy Pacific Northwest. I use the German Dynamit Nobel percussion caps #1081. I also use the CVA cleaning products which work very well. All in all I am very satisfied with this purchase. A reasonably priced excellent rifle.
