This is a great scope. I went into Sportsmans over 20 years ago intent on spending 500 dollars or more on a scope for my ruger m77 3006. After spending over an hour checking out all the scores available that day, I finally selected the Bushnell banner in 3x9x40. After countless hunts where I carrried this rifle countless miles on my 4 wheeler, in the scabbard on a horse, Over my shoulder and behind the seat in my truck, it never let me down. Not even once. I recently tried an upgrade to an expensive Nikon because I wanted a little higher power. Maybe it's just what I'm used to, but the banner is better all around. I will be taking it off my 22 and putting it back in the ol aught 6.

The quality of the image through this scope is actually quite good for the price. However, I mounted this on a Ruger mini-14 ranch model (5.56/223). Then I proceeded to sight in the scope. Initially both turrets clicked with each turn as expected. But in a very short time, the elevation turret stopped clicking during turns. It still had resistance (so it's not like it spun freely). Tnerefore I did not think much of it. But I kept having trouble getting this zeroed in.

The symptom was I would get it sighted in, and then within less than a dozen more rounds, it would be way off again. I ended up wasting a couple hundred rounds before I noticed that the elevation turret was actually turning ON ITS OWN, during each shot. While troubleshooting the problem, I made note of the turret position when I finally got it near zeroed. Then I shot even six more rounds and looked at the turret position again. This is when I noticed the turret was creeping every single shot (based on its own internal spring tension, I suppose).

It's possible this was just a defective unit. But as the turrets did initially click for short time and seemingly 'lock' into place, consider this: Do you want to own a scope that may work ok during the warranty period, and then fail after the warranty may expire? As in my case, I wasted far more money on ammo than I would have spent in upgrading to a better scope in the first place.

This scope might be ok if you have a lower vibration firearm.
