I have had this mounted on a S&W 44 Mag revolver for about two years now and have had no issues or trouble. I bought this site because as I am getting older and having to wear bifocal glasses I was having trouble using the open sites on the pistol. Either the target was clear or the sites but not both. This site fixed all those problems. I have shot the pistol many times now and after initially siting it in, have never had to change the site adjustments. I have not had to change the battery yet either. The only thing that troubles some people, but is not a problem for me, is the red dot is not always a dot. It sometimes looks distorted or looks like a star. The appearance of the dot also changes according to the intensity of the dot. I usually keep the intensity setting on automatic. The deer in the pictures was taken using this 44 Mag and Burris FastFire III. My best ever with the pistol.

The sight worked well for 3 months. I was impressed with how it improved my out of position shooting with my shotgun. I have it mounted on a SpeedBead on a Browning Maxus that use for turkey, goose and duck hunting. I put it on my shotgun for turkey season and tried it out on the trap ranged and was impressed. I do a lot of hunting out of a layout blind and I'm rarely in perfect position when taking a shot. a lot of time I'm shooting behind or at a awkward angle for goose and duck, so it makes it hard to have perfect sight alignment. The SpeedBead and fast fire eliminate the human error portion of those shots. where the red dot is is where it hits. I noticed that when i was shooting clays out of my layout blind at difficult angles I doubled my hits with this sight. Unfortunately right about the time early goose season started my sight started moving to the right little by little. I have it right above my front bead on my shotgun so its easy to see weather it moved. Every morning I would have to move it back to the left about 4-10 clicks. I verified the mount was secure and then place a dab of fingernail polish on the windage adjustment to see if that was moving. it turned out that the dot was moving and the windage adjustment was remaining in place. Fortunately Burris has an excellent warranty policy, I called them and had it shipped out today to have it replaced. We will see how quickly the return is and I will right a review on that also. I am hoping to have it back for opening day of duck season here in Michigan. I am really looking forward to hunting with this sight this year. If you asked me to right this review a month ago it would have been a easy 5 stars.

Awesome sight !!!

Comments about Burris Fastfire III Red Dot Sight:

Installed on a light weight 10/22, steel target gun. Lightweight , easy target acquisition, holds zero well. Whats not to like? I am getting older and have to wear reading glasses . It is tough to focus on iron sights and the target. The FastFire 3 makes sighting easy.

FF III on a BuckMark Hunter

By

from Cary, NC

Comments about Burris Fastfire III Red Dot Sight:

I have the Burris FF III, 3 MOA mounted on a Browning BuckMark Hunter and it is an excellent sight for this 22 LR pistol. The red dot is easy to locate as I just look above the green FO front sight. Accurate and rugged.

Wasn't usable for my application

By

from ohio

Comments about Burris Fastfire III Red Dot Sight:

Bought this sight for a Walther PPQ Q5 pistol. The sight is supposed to be compatible with a mounting plate that comes with the pistol. The sight mates with the plate as it should but there is a problem. The screws that come from Burris are a larger thread than the holes in the mounting plate and won't work. The screws that come with the pistol are a cap head screw with a square shoulder on the underside of the head. The screw holes in the sight have a tapered counter bore which take a flat head machine screw with a tapered underside of the head. Trying to install the Walther screws result in the screws bottoming out on the sight's counter bore. This leaves only about two threads holding the sight to the plate. This is not enough purchase to be secure. I had to return the sight to the dealer and go with a different brand sight. I feel Burris should make people aware of this problem with this particular application. Not being able to use the sight, I can't comment on the sight's pro's and con's so I'll give it a three star rating since Burris does make quality products.

Perfect for S&W M&P CORE

By

from Nashville, TN, United States

Comments about Burris Fastfire III Red Dot Sight:

Mounted perfectly to my M&P CORE using plate 5 and screw type C ( some sites say use screw B but I found the C to fit better). Zeroed off a rest at 10 yards within 10 shots. Deciding factor for me was the fact at 55 years old I have Presbyopia, need 1.75 reading glasses, as well as mild astigmatism. Not being able to see the sights I decided to go the red dot site route and couldn't be more pleased. Dot is crisp and clear, and my groups are looking like they did 15 years ago. Its not a Trijicon, but for the price its a good value. Have about 500 rounds now with it mounted and no issues at all.
