The bivy keeps you warm and does breathe more than other emergency bivy bags. But the size is too small and tight to add a light sleeping bag for cold weather use, AND the zipper does not go down far enough to allow easy entry.

This is a problem for big guys---anyone over 6 feet tall and/or weighing more than 200 pounds. I don't think I could do the WORM dance with a Primaloft parka on in January and still get inside the bivy and be able to zip it up.

Make the zipper 5 feet long---like 3/4 long around the bag. Make the circumference in the chest area larger----like a real 72 to 80 inches. That would mean a width of 36 to 40 inches, which would allow a big guy to wear his insulated jacket in the bivy in a real emergency in snow or winter conditions.

Finally, they have an olive green model for military use, but I still question the durability of the fabric. I don't see the bivy making it past 1 season of use--especially in rocky or sandy terrain. For $50, I would think this bag should last several years. Otherwise, why not spend a bit more, and get a military surplus Goretex bivy for $75 to $100, and that will have the full length zipper, breathe well, be totally waterproof, and be very durable---with a lifetime of use!

Adventure med Kits the only way to go

By

from Bozeman, MT

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I have used this product frequently for the last three decades. AMK is the leading first aid kit in its own right. I advise everyone who purchases this to stock up on pads and bandaids. Lots and lots of bandaids.

I take it on all my trips...

from Columbia, SC

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I take this with me on every trip no matter what the weather looks like. I just did an 81 mile hike along the NC/SC border in late July and even though southeast summers are brutal, I still brought it just in case a chill came in the night. Sure enough...I ended up getting into it every night around 1am. It's so light, you might as well bring it! It also is tough enough to put your stuff on when the ground is wet...great product, thanks SOL!

Glad I purchased this

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I'm a twelve year army vet with some medical experience. I bought this for stocking the medical section of the my bushcraft bag. The product was exactly as advertised and fits a set of good trauma products into a compact package. The included medical instructions are concise, but well written and cover a number of traumas that often ignored in other simple first aid help lists. I especially liked the dual nature of the tourniquet that can also be used as a pressure dressing. I am now considering purchasing another of these for my daily carry bag.

Wise addition to your EDC...

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I bought this kit to add to the medical pouch in my Every Day Carry bag. My bag goes with me everywhere. I work as a patrol officer and I wanted something more than my issued plastic box first aid kit in the event that myself or someone else caught a bullet. I think this is small and handy. I'd like to see the price around the $35 mark but I still think this is a good piece of kit.

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

Blisters from a new pair of boots almost ruined a hiking trip for me. Cleaned the blisters and put some GlacierGel on them, and I was back in business. This stuff really works great!

Excellent for EDC go bag!

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I keep one of these in my EDC go bag which is setup for both urban and wilderness survival situations. The QuikClot Trauma Pak is perfect for it and has pretty much everything you need to control heavy bleeding/hemorrhaging, gunshot/stabbing wounds, sucking chest wounds, amputations and avulsions.

Comments about Ben's 30 Insect Eco-Spray:

I used QuikClot on a gentleman who had been using arspiin and Plavix (anticlotting drugs). After a fall, his abrasions wouldn't quit oozing through the first bandages. The QuikClot stopped it right away, but I had to fumble around to gather gloves, bandages, etc. This kit is a great disposable solution to quickly deal with a bleeder. I got one for each car.

i go shooting a lot. so i always keep one of these in my range bag just in case. you never know when something bad may happen. so having one of these on hand can't hurt. plus, knowing that its water proof is great since i train in all weather. i have told many people to get one to take with them
