Pretty good stuff, fired 30 balls thru my faithful .54 Hawken with a charge of 80 grains, .15 patch and Lehigh valley patch lube and did NO swabbing between shots, also ignites better than the other BP substitutes I have used, and it cleans up very easily, took about 15 minutes using water only.

I really like this guy.

By

from Southern Idaho

I've got to tell black powder revolver shooters get this powder. It's clean easy cleaning does what is says. No crud deep in cylander like black powder or hogden substitutes. Good 3 f power loaded like your favorite load. Now it's 10.00 a pound at SW they have lots of it in stock. Both stores in my area. Now I'm gonna screw things up...it sells everywhere on the internet for 25.00 or more if they have it.Smokes a bunch gotta love that. I load 35 gn. By vol.A small dip of wheat to fill it up a little dry hard felt wad , small dab grease( bees wax, lard, crisko mixed and melted together) let harden whip by hand into smooth grease about like that white paste we all ate back in school 1970's. Grease .454 ball push in cylander cap and shoot. This way the grease stops any chance of crossfire and keeps the grease in the barrel not all over hell . It works I can shoot all day or at least 50 to 75 times without cleaning try it.

EXCELLENT !!

By

from Tri Cities Wa

This is some great powder , I have been shooting black powder since 1981 and this substitute shoots extremely clean and accurate , when I cleaned the barrel there was not much fouling in it like pyrodex and the price is perfect , cheap but yet still effective !!

Recommend if you shoot a lot, mostly as advertised

By

from New England

Overall I am very pleased with this powder, bought 24# a month or so ago nearly done the third #. The powder ignites much easier that pyrodex and much less fouling than black powder. Does liked to be compressed for consistent lock time. Does leave grey ash residue in the bolster that eventually clogs the tube causing misfires. After 20+ shots I need to clean out the bolster. Little to no fouling in the bore. I can shoot 50+ shots without patching the bore. I use in 32, 36 and 50 cal caplock 1:48 twist barrels shooting prb, and 50 using cast Lee 250 and 320 REAL and 354 modern minie. Cloverleaf groups at 25yds with iron sights.

I shoot often and a lot; at least once a week and ~50 shots per outing. Performs well, ignites easy, burns clean, cleans up fast and easy. Most cleanups are brush, simple green wet patches, dry patches followed by bore buttered patches. Will run dry patches mid week and re bore butter. Do notice a bit of rust on the mid week patches so virtually non corrosive means you need to do a good hot soapy water clean before you put the guns a way for the season.

Bottom line, this powder works good for my applications. Frequent range shooting (many shots per outing) and frequent small game hunting (a few shots per outing). Fouling and cleanup is much improved over bp and pyrodex. Have not her tried as the main charge in a flintlock, does not work well in the priming pan.

EXCEPTIONAL

By

from Coastal North Carolina

Clean burning and none corrosive (unlike Pyrodex). I use it in C&B, Caplock rifles (my Whitworth), and have used it in a Remington C&B conversion .45 Colt cartridge. Not only would I recommend it to a friend, I got them hooked on it plus they own a store front firearms business.

Good stuff. Waiting for more to arrive @ store.

By

from Northern NV / CA

I use it in 32 SWL & 38 SPL as blanks.
I have shot hundreds of these rounds. They have a great sound (not to loud)
and they put out good smoke. Gun cleanup is super easy & have had no corrosion on any of my guns.

LIES?

By

from LITTLE ROCK SC

AT ABOUT TEN DOLLARS A POUND, I MIGHT BUY IT. CHEAPER THAN TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS A POUND REAL GUN BLACK POWDER I WAS LOOKING FOR. WHY DON'T THEY SELL REAL GUN POWDER?
ANYWAY, I'VE SHOT OVER THREE HUNDRED SHOTS WITH ACTUAL BLACK POWDER (GOEX BRAND) IN A BLACK POWDER PISTOL, AND NEVER SAW ANY CORROSION ANYWHERE. NONE IN BARREL, JUST SOME LEAD BUILD UP.

Great powder.

Used to use pyrodex but hated the mess. This is alot cleaner, have not had any problems hunting in damp weather either, I have recommended it to several friends. Hope they get some more in soon.
